Alright I want to know if there is anything I can do to limit stress. I have had 2 ER trips because of high blood pressure and am only 17. I figure my BP is caused by my stress. My dad has suffered from hypertension since he was 20. I have looked up causes to high BP and most of the things I do not do. I am active, have a decent diet and no longer take much caffeine. So my question is why am I stressed? I am never stressed about a certain something, I am just stressed all the time. Little things don't bother me and most big things don't either. I don't worry about much at all. I just don't get why I am stressed.

One of the easiest way to overcome stress is in the laughing therapy. In this therapy, people gather in parks in early morning hours and at a signal start laughing loudly all together. Some will make faces, some will do funny stunts ,some one will start dancing or doing something that will make himself as well as others to laugh. The group laughing continues for 15 minutes or more. Each member laughs with no inhibitions. These clubs are now well established in almost all large towns in India and participated by people of all age group and sex.Every participating member claims that the laughing to the heart fill, eliminates their day long stress, normalize their blood pressure and improve their life in many ways. Moreover, laughing costs one nothing.

There may be a medical reason for your high blood pressure. Sometimes it can just be hereditary. Or, it could be caused by some medication(s) you are taking. What have the doctors at the ER said? Anger, as well as stress, can cause high blood pressure. Are you angry for some reason? If it is not the result of psychological stress or anger, and your diet and exercise are really good, it is possible you need medication to lower your blood pressure. Anger, as well as stress, can be a cause of high blood pressure. Or, you could have generalized anxiety disorder, a psychiatric disorder, where you just feel stressed out all the time but don't know exactly why. I would see a medical doctor first to rule out medical reasons (which could be helped by changing your diet (I know you said you have a decent diet but there may be some food that is affecting your blood pressure of which you are unaware). If there is no medical cause and the doctor agrees that your diet and exercise regiment are good, and doesn't think medication is necessary, you might be helped by seeing a therapist. There are various different types of therapy that can be used to treat generalized anxiety disorder, including talk therapy and cognitive therapy. Good Luck!
