My cat is a real talker and he's very loud. He belows almost, and he won't stop unless I'm giving him constant attention. I've tried to hold him and pet him to calm him down in hopes that he would go to sleep but he doesn't. Instead he just jumps out of my arms and walks all over the house meowing more and more. I live in an apartment and I'm really afraid that my neighbors will complain about it. Is there anything that I can do to stop this from happening because I don't want to have to get rid of him. Oh and he is neutered so I don't think he's calling out to the females. He did only get neutered about 6 - 8 weeks ago so maybe he hasn't had enough time for the hormones to subside. Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance.

I do give HIM some love and attention, all the time. I do nothing but love on him but around 3 or 4 am he starts in with this REALLY LOUD meowing. I can't sleep and I'm really afraid that he will piss of a neighbor so I have to fix this problem so that I don't have to get rid of him. Also when the meowing starts, he starts running all over the house like a mad man, jumping on stuff and acting nutty.

He's always been an indoor cat as well

I also tried to let him out the other day but he didn't want out, he sat on the sidewalk and cried. I really love this cat a lot and I'm in tears but I have to either fix the problem or get rid of him and I don't want to do that. If I don't control his volume then I'll be in violation of my lease contract with gives others the right to peace and quite after a certain time at night.

I have two other cats so he's not lacking buddies.

It can be a sign that there is something wrong, so my suggestion would be a vet visit that included blood tests

Oh my God this is just like my cat. He is only seven months old but he cries all the time, especially at night! I just ignore him and usually after half an hour he quits. But I also have two other cats and a dog so maybe all the extra company is what makes him quit meowing. Maybe you should consider getting him a friend. Also, I've heard that certain breeds like siamese cats or other oriental cats are naturally quite vocal.

Some cats are talkers. You can't really control it. I have a Siamese female and she talks really early in the morning. Lots of meows and different stuff. She's quiet when she's sleeping of course, but she follows me everywhere and is dog like and meows. Next time you get a cat make sure it's one that is more quiet. But in the meantime try to enjoy it. Talk back to him, give him loves and there's not much more you can do. He should get more lazy as he ages and won't be awake as much. :)

It sounds like he's hunting and playing, it's normal behavior. Are your walls that thin?

I would say he's just bored. Find him some sort of distraction, keep his mind on something else. Try a toy or some new food. Maybe a change of atmosphere: let him go outside. Even a companion. Maybe he's lonely, is he used to being around other cats?

Some breeds are very vocal, my Exotic is like this, and the vet said it is the breed, I got a Scottish for company for her and you can hardly hear her at all, but my other cat doesn t want anything to do with her.
In the daytime, I let her out in the backyard, and she loves that, and I get some peace.

He's a cat. He wants to go outside and *be* a cat. You'd yell if you'd been under house arrest for a couple of months.
