By parking in the street they make it hard for other cars to pass. There are three police cars on our block and they all park in the street even though they have plenty of room in their driveways.

These police work day shift so I don't think the sunlight is an issue with the foil. Also it covers the windows that face the street not the bedrooms.

I don't see what's secret about parking a cruiser in the street.

What? I live with a police officer and we DO NOT have aluminum covering our windows. He doesn't drive his cruiser home so I don't know anything about them parking them in the street. Mostly everyone on our street knows he is a cop so there really no reason for him to be so private about it. We do have dark curtains in our bedroom because he works 3rd shift and if it is too light in the room he can't sleep.

I do not want a take home car...I do not want people to know where I live or what I do. Look at the posts here. People hate us. Why would many officers want people to know who they are? In regards to foil...Many of us work midnights. The foil helps. I prefer roman shades, curtains, and even a blanket covering the windows. I take the blanket down during the day. I think it looks better...

If they are parked legally on the street, instead of hiding them in their yards, I wouldn't call that living in secrecy. The aluminum may be insulation to keep heating or AC bills down

If they have aluminum covering their windows, maybe it is because they sleep during the day. I did this when I worked graveyard shift in the Navy. Otherwise my room was just too bright.

no foil on our windows...ever
Dad never took the partol car home for the night
left it on the street if he came home for a minute- faster exit that way if needed for an emergency

uhh? I don't get a take home car. And if the blinds don't block out enough sun, I can't sleep.
