There are many Psalms where David prays "Lord destroy my enemies" or the the one's who persecute me...

But would it be wrong for me to pray that.. I do have a bonefide real enemy in my life. This person is outright attacking every part of my life. I've tried to reconcile, apologized if I offended. And I prayed God would work in the situation.. I've even prayed for God to bless my enemies.... But now it's getting to the point where this person is ruining my life and there's nothing I can really do to stop it.. It's serious...

I have to say I'm so very tired of what this person continues to do to me and I'm wondering if I can pray like David and ask God to destroy my enemies.
Or would this be wrong in God's eyes?

I personally would never ask God to destroy my enemies. I like to fight my own battles. If nothing else, as God to bless your life so that you can overcome what's happening to you.

David was praying for God to make way for Israel. You are not doing that.

As a Christian today, in your heart, you are called to love your enemies, since even the Pharisees and tax collectors love their friends and hate their enemies; you are called to love as God loves, for he so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son for the remission of all sin. You are called to turn the other cheek, and to forgive 7 times 7 times 7 times.

Now, if by attacking every part of your life and ruining it, you mean that your are being harassed or physically threatened; as a practical matter you must contact the police and report this person, and get an order of protection. Even move out of your house and in somewhere else with someone you know you can trust. If you don't know anyone, go to your Church and talk with the Elder, Minister or Pastor and seek help there. If you don't attend Church, go anyway, find one that has a reputation for charity and helping out those in immediate need.

You can call the police about someone, but still forgive them in your heart.

Also ask friends to help and to pray for you.

In prayer for you,

Thomas J.

David was a King and had lots of enemies (entire nations).

I'll tell you a personal experience. I had a very bad boss, all my co-workers going crazy and I was becoming desperate after two years being under him. He was very sarcastic and would stab you in the back.

I did pray to get rid of him. But my prayer was for him to get a better job, so much better that he would not look back at his old job.

He did got a better job and now I'm at peace. But it took two years!

So pray directly for him, actively, do not stop showing kindness to this person.

Remember, God knows your heart and your feelings before you tell him in prayer. But He wants you to pray anyway so you can exercise your faith.

There is nothing wrong you could communicate to God, he understands you and knows what you are going through. The best thing is that He knows how this crucible will make you're faith stronger.

I'll pray for your problem, I'm sure others in this forum will also do so.

May God bless you

You have brought up a good question. You have to realize that satan was not the only rebel. There were other angels watching & witnessing the accusation being made, some eventually followed satan by willfully taking a stand against God. If God would have done so, this would have made satan's attack on God's sovereignty be called into question. If indeed God would have whipped satan out other angels would've cited that maybe God is withholding valuable information from not only man but the angels as well. So to prove that satan is a liar & the father of the lie, god let human existence go on to show not only humans, but the angels also that indeed he is right & satan is a liar & manslayer. This would also show that the creator knows what's best for his creation.

You have done your very best in prayer and Almighty God has tested you very well.

I would definitely leave the rest up to God. He will take care of it.

If you do think of wanting to destroy your enemy now, that is not from God, just really think about it.

I would just pray for my enemy over and over, and say God please bless so and so. Why did they come into my life? What are you showing this person to me for? Does this person need my prayers and what is best to do for them?

You are forbidden to take vengeance yourself, but you are not forbidden to pray that God will cause something to take care of your problem.

Another thing to consider is that the person attacking you may not be someone worthy of God's chastisement. By asking God to take care of it, you may cause that chastisement to happen. It could bring much needed positive changes in the person.

Go ahead and pray what you are inclined to pray.

Hon, Don`t do that.. Please KNOW that God already knows what is going on.. He will handle this and you will not have to do anything. God does NOT take it lightly when someone hurts his kids. Please remember that when one door closes, God will open another.. I am so sorry for this struggle going on. Hang in there, It won`t be very long before you are going to see miracles happen that will astound you.. He takes care of his kids just like any other Father, only he goes beyond OUR wildest imaginations.. Hang tight to Psalms 91...

My prayers are with you, Dear.

Go for it honey. You are only human, you know it, God knows it. If it is something that He does not agree with, your prayer won't get answered, no prob. It is not like you are sending some nasty mojo out at someone because they cut you off on the freeway. Not that I have ever done that of course.

Seriously, you have a right to protect yourself.

Psalms is Old Testament. After Jesus came, the teachings changed. We are to Love our enemies. Sorry, I know that is hard, but that is the way it is.
