Yes, it is for the tax year you were married for. Even if you got married on dec 31, you stil can file jointly for rhis year. Good luck :)

Yes, anyone who is married by December 31 of any year can file a joint return and claim two personal exemptions. If a baby is born on December 31 they can be claimed for the entire year too.

Yes, I was married on the 16th of december and filed jointly that april. Uh, I also use an accountant so if feel pretty confident that I'm not giving misinformation.

As long as you're legally married by 12/31 you can file jointly, however, it would be to your benefit to calculate your return both jointly and separately.

As per the US Federal Law for taxes, taxes cannot be filed jointly as they r supposed to be filed individually as per the IRS(Internal Revenue Service)
