I am an international student from Africa and recently got in a bit of trouble.I got into a bar fight and was chradged with felony agravated assult.Six weeks later, I had an accident and fled the scene because I had no insurance. I just panicked and thought of my other pending case. I turned myself in to the police the next morning coz there were no officers to arrest me for the hit and run when i went to the station on the evening of the accident.I spent 3 days in jail for that.Im going to court for my hit and run on December 12.I was also charged with faliure to yield and no insurance. I got insurance now but the damage is done. I am a good person , I work hard.help me with advice . I have a layer for the first offence but can not afford one for the hit and run.will they bring up the other case in court.what should I expect (the worst).

The cases would be handled seperately unless they occurred at the same time.

If you cannot afford an attorney, the court will appoint you one at no charge.

The worst that I can see happening is court costs and fines, resitution for all damages done due to your negligence, time served, and probation.

As for the felony assault...I'm sure there'll be restitution for the medical bills, also court costs and fines, and depending upon the circumstances maybe SOME time in jail...but I'm not familiar with the court system where you are so that's difficult to say.

I've not heard of anyone going to jail for a hit and run case if nobody was hurt. However, I could be wrong... The other case, you could serve sometime and you could be sent home. Wish I could help you out more but I agree with what everyone else is saying.

You are probably looking at deportation after a couple months of jail time. You may not go to jail if no one was hurt.

After you are convicted and spend your time in jail you will be deported.
