She is being punished for being alone with a guy and having affair with him not for being raped. Yea she and her lover got jumped and raped but doesn't excuse the fact she broke the law before the rape by being alone with a guy that was not her husband.

Actually that is tribal law.

If you cite the article correctly you will see that the sentence is pronouced to be against Islamic Law and is under appeal on the grounds that it blantantly violates Sharia for rape. Saying every ruling coming out of the Mid East courts is Islamic Law is like saying every decision coming out of US courts is Christian Law. Most rulings really contradicts it.

Her intial sentence though was for consentual sex in an extra martial affair. It was doubled because she violated the court after agreeing to the sentence in court and then going against it.

Yeah, they said she shouldn't have been in the same car with them--what a cop out. This is religion at it's worst. Their religion isn't about love and forgiveness, but rather punishment and persecution. And people say us Christians are fanatical hypocrits.

This woman broke the law in Saudi Arabia and in Islam which is that women shall not be allowed to go outside or alone with a man they are not related to by blood or marriage and are not allowed to travel abroad without their mahram(husband, brothers, father, or sons). This is for their own protection. The punishment for adultery is stoning to death. This woman is lucky she was not killed. She used the international media in her appeal to embarrass the Saudi courts and make Saudi Arabia out to be a bad country. This woman admitted to having sex with her lover(man in car with her) and confessed to adultery in her appeal. Her husband agreed that she should be whipped and thrown in jail rather then be killed. She was originally sentenced to 90 lashes for being in the car alone with a man she was not related to. If a woman is alone with a man she is not related to by blood or marriage what do you think is going to happen between them? Muhammad(PBUH*) said that if a man and woman who are not married are alone in a room together then Satan is the 3rd person in the room. This is why Islam forbids men and women from having friends of the oppossite sex and forbids them from mingling or interacting with each other unless they are related by blood.

islam didn't say that women should be lashed if she was raped...THAT IS WRONG...that is saudi law NOT islamic law,there is a difference...
islam says that if a woman or a man has had sex without being married they should be lashed....
because having sex without being married is not acceptable because of many good reaseons actually,,,
