Not much difference, The Air Force has specialized firefighters and the Navy damage control specialists. Both teach not only fire suppression but rescue techniques.
Here the Navy gets into it a bit more on account of the shipboard environment. A fire on an aircraft carrier would be pretty intense. Think about it.

Go into the Air Force and become a Fire Fighter while in. You get a lot of training, necessary training that other basic firemen do not have. When you get out, you then can become a civilian fire fighter for the air force. Or get on with virtually any Fire Department.

incorrect. the first answerer is right on. the Navy rating DC is NOT about fighting fires, it is about damage control. while FF is a part of the job skillset, it is NOT the main focus and should not in any way be construed as a substitute for civilian FF training.
regardless, no matter which you choose you will STILL have to complete your local Fire Academy anyway. so it really doesn't matter one way or the other.

The Air Force has a fire fighter specialty. The Navy does not. While it is true the Navy does provide fire fighting training, no one has that as a sole job.

Not only does the Navy have a firefighter rating, you'll get more and better training. Plus you get to travel, and a good chance of carrier duty. (Carriers rule!)

This site shows that the first poster is wrong, there certainly is a firefighter specialty in the Navy. Talk to a recruiter, take the ASVAB and see which branch you would be more likely to get into that specialty. Good luck.
