Because they feel threatened.

Can you really expect anything else!!!!!!

Let's all, that is both believers and non believers, take a closer look at this from the natural man side:
a. If someone tells someone how good they are, how holy they are, or how better they are wouldn't you expect a harsher or should we say more in depth judging of that individual. Not all christians act in that manner, however many do. The true born again christian who is filled with the spirit should manifest: love, joy, peace, long-suffering, goodness, faith, meekness, gentleness, and self control. Now tell me if you can who is going to judge that.

b. If someone starts pointing fingers at someone else, judging them, and putting them down what else would you expect. There are many carnal christians and babes in Christ etc. that sometimes do this. It is pretty obvious what to expect.

We also know that there is a spiritual warfare going on. Common sense dictates we will as true christrians be persecuted. The key is we must learn to praise God for it knowing that it works for the good of us and when we react Christ like instead of pushing the non believers away or offending them we will most likely influence them in a positive rather than a negative way.

Wouldn't you agree that if we acted Christ like that we would be a much better ambassador for Christ. our Lord and Savior.

Maybe because unbelievers are afraid of being judged harshly by believers. Or maybe they already have. Not all believers judge harshly, but some do.
Another reason could be that they just don't like believers.
It could be many things. It could be simply that they don't understand that religion. But why should it matter? "Judge not least ye be judged." And don't let judgment deter you from your beliefs. Maybe the next time your judged, ask them nicely why they do so.

Believers can behave pretty crummy as well, which is wrong too--but I would hope they learn the error of their ways because God expects better out of His own children...I would think that you are more specifically referring to how a believer who has done nothing to instigate being judged is still judged by a non believer in a very harsh way.

For example, Rosie O'Donnell equating Evangelical Christians with muslim extremists? Is that an example of what you are referring to? an unprovoked criticism that is filled with vitriol and hatred and no explanation? Especially when you consider that the overwhelming majority of Christians are trying to live a good life and be kind to people?

The Bible teaches us that we are filled with the light of the Holy Spirit. Hence, that light tends to shine from time to time through no fault or 'judgemental behavior' of our own. Unbelievers who have willfully avoided God's call are going to notice this more than anybody, and it angers them because they see your light shining on their sin. Until you understand the Good News of forgiveness and the power of being free from sin, you're always going to run from the light shining on it.

So you need to pray for unbelievers that they get really tired of their lives the way that they are.

Unbelievers are afraid of what they dont understand. So they attack what you believe out of fear that if they really listen to what you may say or have said that might actually make them understand......and ultimately believe.
