Aspirin unlike other painkilling (analgesic) drugs, has a unique effect in blood thinning, and so is often recommended for its anticoagulant properties. However 1 aspirin a day doesnt produce a significant painkilling effect, but is a ideal amount for blood thinning, when stronger medication such as warfarin are not needed. You can take up to 1000mg (1g) or 2 tablets of paracetamol, or up to 400mg of ibuprofen as a single dose (do not exceed more than 4 doses in 24 hrs) for effective pain relief, on top of 1 aspirin a day. However both aspirin and ibuproben can irritate the stomach lining and occassionally cause ulcers. By making sure food is ingested at the same time as taking these drugs should prevent this from happening.
You should try taking either paracetemol OR ibuprofen initially for the pain,BUT they also can be used in their full doses in conjunction with each other when the pain is more severe. This should knock the pain on the head and if it doesnt you should see your GP as you may need a slightly stronger painkiller such as cedeine or tramadol.
Hope this info helps.

The one aspirin tablet recommended per day to "thin the blood" is usually 75 - 80mg. The traditional 2 aspirins for a headache is 650 mg and that was allowed every 4-6 hours.
Now as a chronic issue, no nsaid or aspirin should be taken on top of your daily aspirin prophylaxis routinely. However, for an occasional headache or pain it should not be a significant issue.
From a gastric point paracetamol is safer. More people die annually from gastric bleeds due to nsaids (ibuprofen and similar drugs) in the US every year than die of AIDS. This is not a commonly advertised fact. It is better to avoid chronic use of nsaids if possible.
If you have daily pain, and need aspirin daily also, see your doctor for pain control, there are other medications which can help and will not interact with your aspirin. Until then the paracetamol will not cause any problem.

Paracetamol tends to contains aspirin anyway so its normally one or the other.
If i'm going to combine painkillers, i normally use parcetamol and ibuforen, but if you have been told to use aspirin then that is what you should do.
Make sure you read the instructions with the tablets or even consult your doctor first to be 100% sure.
If you are in a great deal of pain, you doctor could probably offer you something completely different and much stronger that all of the above combined.
Although, if its stomach pains... the aspirin is probably causing it anyway so increasing the amount is daft.

You should probably not mix treatments for two different purposes: blood "thinning" to forestall a stroke or heart attack and pain. Ibuprofen is likely to be preferred for the pain rather than more aspirin which might produce undesired blood effects.
Of course you should check with your own physician but meanwhile do NOT take more aspirin than you have been.

Paracetamol and Ibuprofen won't affect the aspirin and you couldalways take more aspirin if that suited you. Which you take depends on the type of pain you're trying to cope with. Ibuprofen is good for local pain with inflammation such as a sprained ankle as it works on the site of the injury and reducess swelling etc. Paracetamol works more generally on the central nervous system to block pain signals. Its better for headaches, cold symptoms etc.

Taking one aspirin a day has nothing to do with pain relief. Therefore if you need pain relief you should take paracetamol. It would be unwise to take extra aspirin because you can thin the blood too much. Ibuprofen have an effect on blood pressure so it probably isn't a good idea to take them unless your doctor tells you to.

One aspirin a day does not come near the limit of the amount of painkillers you can take.
If you are IN pain at the time you take the asprin you could take more of that.
4 hours after taking asprin you are OK to take Ibuprofen (best for aching joints) or paracetamol (better for headaches & stomach aches).
Not sure about Codeine - but after some bad problems in my family with it I just steer clear of it altogether!

Aspirin thins the blood. The only thing it will do is make you bleed more if you get hurt. It irritates the stomach too. Why do you want to fight anyway. Ain't we in enough trouble with the Government? Go organise a football match instead with a prize for the winners.

You can take paracetamol and more aspirin as long as you dont excede the daily dose. You cant take ibuprofen with aspirin though because taking ibuprofen counteracts the benefits of taking aspirin to prevent heart disease, increasing the risk of fatal illness.

if ur taking the 75mg aspirin for blood thinning then u shouldnt take normal aspirin for a headache. stick to paracetamol to be safe. ibuprofen is similar to aspirin and the two shouldnt be taken together.
