...I wasn't a Jimmie Johnson fan but after seeing his dad speak in the last race at Homestead I couldn't help but like the guy. His dad seem like a really great person and you could tell he was proud of his son.

...I'll have to admit that seeing his dad speak made me try to look for those same characteristics in Jimmie. I actually see Jimmie in a different sense from that.

...Is there anyone you were sceptical about in the past as a driver and you learned to see them in a new sense?

Good answer Bill you saw the question for what it was. A chance to voice approval for someone instead of disapproval.

the third part of this question is the reason I answered it;;
You said is there anyone you were skeptical about YES YES YES, I used to wonder why don`t Kyle Petty retire, he has won a few races in his career. I used to look at him as a
Hippie Biker ALL THAT HAS CHANGED- probably 15 years ago we were in Kingsport Tn. There was a little girl there in a
wheel chair And Kyle was there, he Gave the little Girl a HUGE Hug, He treated her like she might have owned Hell and half of Texas,He Made the little girls Day,,,,,,,
Today in my mind KYLE PETTY is one Genuine American

I never cease to disappointed in all the cynicism I see here. I missed the interview, but I have heard about the working class background Jimmie came from. He seems to have come from a good family and he's done good things with his success.
I think it's sad people think he should be "charismatic" just because he's a race car driver. The man should be who he is. So what if he's not "Mr. Excitement?"
Dale Jr. is an example of someone that I;ve changed my opinion of. I used to dislike him (mainly because of some of his fans). As I've given more thought to what he is up against (it's kinda like being Joe Montana's kid), I;ve come to appreciate how he's handled himself. Junior has also come to the aid of terminally ill kids and has handled the media glare to the best of his ability.

i am not a jimmie johnson fan either, but i can't deny that he's a fantastic driver. his dad came across as really nice guy and i honestly think jimmie johnson is a pretty good guy. my feelings about him have changed this year. i'm still not a "fan"-but there is no denying the talent and the fact that pretty much all the other drivers have great respect for him, which i think says a lot.

I am a JJ fan, and last year I learned that he came from pretty humble beginnings and worked his way up. He appears overly proper at times but i just believe he is trying to represent his sponsors in a good light. His dad really seems to be a down to earth guy.

How someone's family members speak should have no bearing on how you see someone. Everyone is an individual. Sure, the man raised Jimmie but that doesn't mean anything, really.

what parent wouldn't say things like that after their child wins a championship? The only driver I see differently now is Tony Stewart, I thought he was a belligeratn you know what...now I see he is speaking for the fans who are tired of the same bs from nascar
