Isolde:
No, that one doesn't actually happen until after the Resurrection, when he passes sentinel angels, prophets (including himself, technically), dispensation heads, then Christ, then Father Adam, and finally reaches the veil and taps the mallet.
At the time Joseph died, remember that his spirit and his body were separated (see Alma 42), and that they don't come back together until after the resurrection. Spirits can't tap mallets.
According to Gordon B. Hinckley and the apostles (as well as Joseph F. Smith's "vision of the Spirit World"), he's still teaching the spirits in prison. According to Brigham Young, however, he has already resurrected and ascended to his godhood.
Therefore, I think it is hard to say whether or not this has already happened, but it is quite safe to say that it didn't happen at the moment of his death, since his body was witnessed dead (open casket) and unresurrected several days after Carthage.
[NOTE: Style question]
Why do you think the Lord speaks in the passive voice in this question?

Dont think he said anything to him.
Afterall, he'd be sitting with God by that afternoon according to the teachings of the church.
Soooo they could have a nice pow-wow then.
As for the current prophet. Doubt he will be said much too either. Maybe a nice tap on the shoulder. Who knows.

Going Down, then he pushes a button that opens a trap door under Joseph and he falls into the pit of hell.

"We're getting your room in the Spirit World ready. What color would you like the walls?"
or
"Look out for that.... Oooo, too late."
or maybe:
"Why on earth didn't you leave viable proof of who is to succeed you? Haven't you learned anything from the apostasy?"

PeaceByJesus: "... who died while trying to shoot others as they tried to take justice in their own hands to kill him?"
You really don't see anything wrong with this statement?

As there is no evidence that god exists OR that there is life after death, it can be concluded with a high level of certainty that nothing happened to Joseph Smith after his death.

You mean the Mormon false prophet, who blasphemously make God into a man (contra. Ps. 90:2; Jn. 4:24; Lk. 24:39), and a polygamist, and exalted Mormons as gods," and who died while trying to shoot others as they tried to take justice in their own hands to kill him?
Something like, "And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."
(Mat 7:23).
Likewise to the modern non-prophet.
