I can view pictures on my memory card so everything is working fine, other than the lens not extending out and shutter not opening.
I am curious to see if it is worth it to open up and attempt to fix any visible problems. (since its not worth it to pay 150 to fix)

anybody with any any info/input, personal experience would be greatly appreciated...

thank you

R.I.P. Canon SD750. You've killed it.

Now you know why using a wrist strap or neck strap is always a good idea.

Since its already ruined, you may as well open it up. Just be careful you don't get shocked by the capacitor that stores a charge for the flash. Several thousand volts can give you quite a jolt.

Although I've not repaired cameras, I've worked on many camcorders over the years and there are obvious similarities.

Unless you are interested in owning a tiny picture viewer, you're going to have to take it apart and try. Buy some very small jeweler's screwdrivers and a magnifying lamp or headset. I would say you have a 30/70 chance of making it work again.

If it's not too expensive, you might want to get the service manual from the manufacturer too.

Best of luck.

The lens not extending out and shutter not opening are major problems. If you don't want to pay to fix it try opening it up to see what's inside. Then throw it away and go buy a new one.

i would suggest not to open up because they're very technical gadgets and have very technical pieces and require special equipment to fix.

it's a temporary fix. something else will go wrong with it then you'll be asking the same thing later. in addition, i bet we wouldn't have heard from you if you didn't fix it lol
