I have a winding staircase in Manhattan,where even a split queen box spring will not work.I really need one that will fold.

I did a search on yahoo for foldable box spring, and they do sell boxsprings that fold in half at www.foldingboxspring.com

I had the same problem in my 1947 Cape Cod...had to buy a King. The box springs are 2 twins. Good luck

You might consider changing to a platform bed which requires NO box spring at all.

no they don't make foldable box spring. the only other option is to get a platform in pieces that can be easily mounted in your apt.
Ikea.com have some nice and cheap one
