i'm not sure if it's just this country, but certainly i know that a lot of people here do not take religion seriously. people here really don't care about having or living a spiritual life. they think you go to church once a week, believe in god, don't do anything to evil or bad and you are set. easterners tend to embrace their religion, using it, living by it in everything that they do. i'm sure you have people like us, but i doubt its in as many numbers. just as i assure you, we have people here that do take their faith seriously, but the numbers are very small.

my question to you is, do you find atheists as (please excuss word choice)pompus? even as a person myself, not believing in god, they annoy me, more than any religious person "shoving their religion down my throat." to me it is dumb. no other group of people marches around and declares what they don't believe. i don't see them complaining to take remove santa clause from the malls, and we all know he's not real.

Certainly this country was at first populated (and founded) by people wishing to escape religious persecution. The idea that a citizen of the US can worship God, as he knows Him, in freedom and without fear of reprisal is fundamental to our country's basis. We feel that freedom to worship is an important right for every human individual.
Now with all this freedom, you'd think that folks would be freely worshipping God with every movement they make, and with every breath they take. But no such luck. You would think that they would thank God every day for the precious right to worship in freedom. Unfortunately our population has become complacent. Never living without this freedom (and a lot of others), a lot of people take this for granted. In turn they have lost their desire to serve God.
Ever notice how many people you see every day are unhappy? They look down at the ground, they don't smile, and they go out of their way to avoid contact with each other. We live in the greatest nation on Earth! Plenty to eat; freedom to travel, to marry, to work in the job we want. Yet why are so many unhappy?
(Because they are morally berift.)

I'm an atheist and I find some atheists pompous. Some percentage of humans in general are pompous. Of course since atheists share only a single commonality (a lack of belief in deities) none of that reflects on me except in the minds of those who don't know what the word means.

No one cares about Santa Claus at the mall. But if they wrote Santa's laws into the Constitution, then I think you would hear more atheists complain. Which, my man, is exactly what they are doing when they complain about "god" and his "laws" being written incorporated into our government.

As soon as we have people yelling for Santa Based Laws I will be cracking down on him too.

I forgive them ALL, for I know that they "think" they are their thoughts. God can never enter into one's experience while we are "thinking" of God!
