Join a foreign army to get citizenship?

Question

I heard from a friend that a few european countries allow you to do this. I know the french foreign legion allows you to be a french citizen after five years but do any other countries armies offer this?
This is merely out of curiosity.

No most countries only accept their own citizens, as they do not want a flood of immigrants, they also don't want the problem of having to deal with background checks, and language problems and they would always question just how loyal you could be when its not your country.
