My finger is infected, I know this because it's hot. My middle finger had a hangnail about a weekago so I cut off the hangnail and left it alone. Now it has gotten bigger where the nail was torn and has some white color under the skin that is visible. Dont want to panic just wanted to know some suggestions

don't call 911, don't amputate or use alcohol or hydrogen peroxide. all sound bad. Do clean hand. use a good antibacterial soap but beta-dine is better. You have perinichea, on the affected finger take a tablespoon of household liquid bleach add to a quart of water. pour some to a shallow glass and soak for about five minutes twice a day. In two to three days you wont have any more problems. If you see that the infection is moving up the hand then see a doctor as soon as possible.
Calling 911 is a waste of money, the alcohol hurts with little gain, the hydrogen peroxide kills tissue and very few germs
the ointments can be placed on after the bleach soaks but don't kill or stop methicillin resistant staph or strep. The bleach however may sting for a second or two but is excellent at killing bacteria costs very little and actually goes deeper int to the tissue to get at bacteria than the topical antibiotics. The antibiotic ointments can then be apply to prevent other bacteria from colonizing the tissue.
I thought the condom answer was hilarious though. How about you?

Soaking it in hot salty water may help a little. Be sure to clean it well with Alcohol or Peroxide and then apply some Antibiotic ointment and a bandaid. That should be plenty. If it is infected, it will eventually have a discharge that you will want to clean away and repeat the previous recommendations.

Use a q-tip dipped in peroxide to clean it out, then apply triple antibiotic ointment (Neosporin) to your nail-bed. Put a waterproof band-aid on your finger to cover and protect it. Use liquid Dial soap to wash your hands, it kills germs so you won't develop another hangnail infection (it kills viruses from colds too:)).

anytime you deal with hang nails your most likely to get a infection..you need to soak your finger in Epsom salt and boil the water..also you can pour peroxide on it and watch it fizz, if it fizzes there is a infection.soak your finger three times a day in espom salt and put some medicine on it.

Hi, soak it in peroxide. After that gently dry it off and apply antibiotic cream and cover it with a band aid.Repeat this a couple of times a day. It should get better in 2-3 days. If not you might want to have a Doctor look at it.

Alcohol swab to kill the bacteria, ointment and a band-aid for protection (that' what I do). If it get's worse like pus comes out or somethin' go to a pharmacist or doc.

I think i had something like that once, I pulled on the side of my finger (next to the nail;the part that hurts) and puss came out, it was pretty gross.

Get some triple-antibiotic ointment. It comes in a little tube, looks like vaseline, I swear that stuff is magical.
