This is a copy of the e-mail have sent to the Sudanese Embassy
May I state my deep concern at the stance your country has taken regarding the British teacher Mrs Gillian Gibbons. I don't believe for one minute she intended any offence to anyone. Having worked in a Muslim country, Europeans are very well aware that your rules are different and we try to comply with them. No-one, especially a middle aged teacher, would deliberately put themselves in a situation such as she finds herself.
Your country needs to practice the Korans teachings, which as I recall are kindness, tolerance and humility. The release of this lady should be immediate and with all charges dropped. This is not a good image to present to the rest of the world of your Country's intolerance and heavy handedness.

I will support through prayer. I honestly do not believe that Muslims would stop torture other ridiculous behavior because of an email. I ope you are right and it does, but I put my trust in God.
This lady, bless her heart, is only one example of why the world needs to wake up and squash Islam every time they step out of line. Islam is not a friend of freedom, common sense, doing what is right, or how to provide a good environment for a nation.
Prayer done.

She has the support of...
"The Muslim Council of Britain reacted angrily to the news, saying it was "appalled" and demanded Mrs Gibbons' immediate release.
"This is a disgraceful decision and defies common sense. There was clearly no intention on the part of the teacher to deliberately insult the Islamic faith," said Secretary-General Dr Muhammad Abdul Bari, in a strongly-worded statement." "
I've tried to understand the point of view of her accusers, and failed completely, when there is clearly this level of contrary opinion from within Islam.
"Dilwar Hussain, of the Islamic Foundation, has no problem with a teddy bear called Muhammad. For some years, the Islamic Society sold a soft toy made for British Muslim children named Adam the Prayer Bear. "Adam is also the name of a Prophet." "

I just sent them an email in support of freeing Gillian Gibbons. I urged them to show mercy and compassion over something that was not intended as malicious or offensive.

Good idea, I doubt if it will do any good, Sudan is a theocracy so impervious to reason, but it is a way of venting my spleen!

According to the Sudanese ambassador in London, she will almost certainly be acquitted. Even so, it's ridiculous that she was charged for such a stupid offence.
