If your entire town were wiped out by a natural disaster, would you say, "The Lord works in mysterious ways"?

I just saw a video of a guy who almost got killed at a stock car race,... he thanked god that the car flew past his head, missing him.
Why did god let the accident happen in the first freakin' place, is my question?

People will make up anything to justify this fictitious god-thing.

Go figure.

Can a Heathen answer this one? Everyone forgets pagans and heathens and just asks the atheists to answer "What if God...." questions.

If my village was wiped out (my mountain town) by a natural disaster would I turn to a loving God - No. Where would I see the love from this deity if my town and loved ones were lost? This question isn't likely to make one believe in the Jewish/Christian/Islamic version of a deity.

I'm more likely to think of a wonderful deity when I'm in Yosemite or my own meadow behind my house.

I'll stick with my deities, thanks. They tend to stay out of human lives.

So if your parents beat you or lock you in a room, it means they are not loving.
Does God need to show all the good things to you to make you believe in Him?
And I don't know about other religions, but in Hinduism there is a concept of actions(karma), according to which you will sow as you reap, whether in this life or in the next life. If you see some person in misery despite of him being a good person, then maybe he is paying for his deeds in his previous life.
And if you ask, then why dont God punish or reward one in this life only, then I must say that if this should be the case, you are not liable to be called a human being. When you know that you'll be rewarded or punished you are no more than an animal(sorry to say so,I dont want to offend you) because animals can also do the same.
Dont you think we should do good things because they are good to do and not because we will be rewarded?

Uh no, I'd think I'd picked a bad place to live. Is God in charge of natural disasters or nature? Because if God flooded my village then he isnt a very loving God after all is he?

Why do you have the idea that God is supposed to make "everything perfect" here on this sinful planet? God told us that wars, floods, earthquakes, etc, happening all at once, are all part of the "birth pains" just before Christ returns. These things are to be expected. The important thing is to make sure that you are saved BEFORE your village gets wiped out, so you can be resurrected to eternal life. Then your temporary death will be inconsequential.

Haha. What?
Are you being sarcastic?

I live in NOLA, I think 'God' already tried that and failed miserably.

In fact, that Hurricane only worsened alot of problems we have.

For those of you who don't know- the decadent areas of NOLA i.e. the French Quarter which includes Bourbon Street did not get any flooding. A little bit of roof damage from the wind but almost nothing happened in the 'morally degraded' part.

He wipes out my village and I'm supposed to believe that he did it out of love? Yeah, I might then believe in him, but I'd hate him for the rest of my days.

I will believe in my Loving GOD who is WITH me in the shadow of valley of death and HE gives me comfort and peace and hope amidst the storm...

Natural calamity is good way to blame GOD but even though GOD is in control of everything HE doesn;t like to poke HIS nose in every matter and that is why HE entrusted Adam and his progeny (descendents). Crudely speaking, just like CEO of a company, GOD is running everything. a CEO is in control of everything and dictate everywhere and in each department when he chooses but he appointed managers to take care and allows their mistakes and corrects them too.

There are two ways of understanding something.
1. first conclude and then analyse to prove what is already concluded.

2. Analyse and check all possible answers and then conclude.

Just like science and math use axiom and believers of the Creator starts with GOD. If you want to beleive that some point of time atoms and electron started THINKING that they are ALIVE then it is your choice.

May GOD bless you !
