See your doctor. Headaches can be a sign that you have an infection, you may have an allergy, you might be having a cluster migraine, you might have a pinched nerve in your spine, you might be clinching your teeth in your sleep or grinding your teeth due to stress, you may be having hormonal changes, you may need glasses/a new prescription, the list is actually very long as far as why you're having a headache like this.
Bottom line...if the headache has lasted this long, go to the doctor as soon as you can get in.
If you can't get in for a day or two, here are some things that I have done to help reduce the pain of long lasting headaches...get rid of artificial fragrances (candles, room sprays, perfumes, etc.), light one small unfragranced candle in the bathroom and get in a nice warm/hot bath with a bath pillow with the lights off and just float while initiating relaxation techniques. Sort of make your bathtub an sensory deprivation tank.
Good luck! I hope you feel better soon.

a week is too long and you really should see a doctor.It could be signs of something more serious.Not to scare you but a week long headache that isn't resolved with pain medicine sounds like cancer or something else.You may need glasses too or a stronger perscription if you wear them.motrin and tylnol should help,too much time on the tv or internet could be causing it,poor lighting when you read as well.Other things to help are cold compresses on your neck and forehead,drink alot of water to stay hydrated and prayer,if you are under alot of stress this could contribute so good soft music and a warm bath may help too.Avoid loud noise or bright lights.Hope some of this may help.If you are addicted to caffine and stop drinking it like soda or coffee this could cause a terrible headache.If you drink it again,it should go away.If you want to stop, then pain medicine should help until the caffine is gone from your system altogether...

Maybe you have a sinus problem thats causing the headache? Try using a steam inhalation to help clear your head, or ask at your local chemist for a 'menthol cone' This is a small cone of solid menthol, and you just rub it on your temples, and across your forehead to help releive pain. You may not be aware of this, but overuse of painkillers can often be the CAUSE of headaches.
If you stll get no releif, then speak to your G.P, or ask a pharmacist for advice.
EDIT;
I should add; I have worked in pharmacy for fifteen years!!

Have you drank or eaten anything with nutrasweet (Equal, Aspartame) all the same thing. I get horrible headaches from that. No diet pop for me.

You my be dehydrated. That can definately cause headaches, so if you dont think you drink enough water then drink more. =]
Also, you could be short- sighted, or long- sighted. so, you may need to get your eyes checked at an opticians.
hope you get better soon! =)

Soak up to your ears in a hot tub of water- it worked for me.
If it has lasted a week, you should be checked by a doctor.

if you've taken painkillers and it still dosen't go then try closing your eyes and sitting quietly in a low or unlit room. sorry if this is of no help but i find it soothing.

Clove oil on your temples. Its an aromatherapy thing. Also masterbating to the point of getting off, or have sex. This is also a great cure for a hangover.
