You don't need to "know" anything. What do you mean? You need to focus on school. If possible, don't stay with your parents. They won't let you grow up and you won't feel like a grown up. If you have to stay there, you need to get a damn job if you don't have one and pay some type "rent", that way they won't start talking crazy to you, at least with the paying of rent, it will stall the time before they start talking junk like "all you do is eat, **** and sleep" or "you don't pay no bills around here". Get in school and get employed.

I understand how you feel. I am about to turn 21 and yes you are at the time in your life that you have to figure out what you want to do for the rest of your life. Trust me I know its hard still living under your parents roof. I moved out and me and my boyfriend live together and we do nothing but work and we have to do online school because we do not have the time to enjoy going to a campus school. Yes they treat you like you are a kid but you should stay there at least long enough to get through your first year of college and get the money saved up to get a apartment you can afford and not struggle living on your own. Its hard trust me. Sometimes I wish I could still be at home but I can't lie I love it just being me and my boyfriend and we get to work toward our future. Well all I can say is good luck to you and really think through any decision that you make. Hope I could help. Later.

Take my advice. GO TO SCHOOL. learn anything a trade whatever. my cousin started this and learned her lesson at a older age (26) she went back to school and now she has her BA in business, she is working for a great company not six figures YET. i am very proud of her. it can be easier when you are young. stay at home forget what your friends say. Because those people may not be in your life the next 6 years and by that time you would be all together. nice job hopefully a good place to stay...girls and stuff canwait. GEt your life on track by going to school. Trust me its th ebest bet you will ever put money on! I am not kiddling. even if you do not know what you want...so what! go to school for general studies just get a degree, preferably a BA.
People who say you dont need a degree are LIARS! I am going BACK to school myself 'aint no shame in my game lol' I am in my 20's too. I used to be a musician man...I thought heyy my band will make it if so on and so forth we practiced and I mean HARDD work. and I used to dj and still DO only in my bedroom. I was well known in my city everybody knew me and wanted the band to play. I was so happy then one of my bandmates left and i was stuck!
I was depressed for 2 years because i was with a girl as well and I was in love with her. so ya know I guess what i am trying to say nothing is more sure than an advantage with education..... girls friends and dreams may not turn out the way you want them to although i hope they do for you. you need a 'backup'

heh, don't count on that "living with the parents is free" bs. Once you are an adult with a job, don't be surprised if the parents ask you to pony up money for some utility bills, groceries, and/or rent.
What you are feeling is normal. Get a job, start saving your money, and check around for roommates. If you wanted to start school but don't know where to go just yet, check you local community college and start getting your basic classes in while you work.
Good Luck to you.

stay at home, go to a nearby school, get a degree, work, move out.
OR
MOVE OUT, apply for a student loan, get a degree, work, then spend the next couple of years paying back the loan.
