Why would I have to consult my rabbi? I'm just asking for the actual procedure they go through.

It is really simple, the Rabbi who converted you is the one who can prove you are Jewish

It's actually a little harder if you are born Jewish. You would have to provide some proof that you are Jewish.

For a convert, you would just need conversion papers and some point of contact where they could follow up on them to make sure they are legit.

The truth is they just ask you if you are Jewish. The use the honors system.
