What they mean when they say to change your name (at least in most cultures i know) is you change your family name from your family to your husbands family.

Example, if my family name is Smith, and my husbands is Lopez... when we get married, i will change my name from Mary Smith, to Mary Lopez. Make sense?!

Change your name means you change it to your husband's last name, not that you make up a new one!

What are you talking about? In America, you cannot change your first name. Only your last name changes.

Oh please, not another one of those poor girls brainwashed to beleive in millions of funky little gods that order you to change yourself for the sake of tem or whatever. If you like your name, just keep it for crying out loud!
