Isn't it possible that God used evolution as his plan to create the earth? Since it's impossible for Evolution to just start itself on it's own, and since I don't think it's realistic that humans just popped outta nowhere.

It can. It's called being a "Theistic Evolutionist".

I believe that God created and coordinates Evolution.

Sloppy question. You can't just state that "evolution can't start on its own" without showing why this is true. It doesn't appear to be, by the way, but including this is called begging the question and would get you laughed out of any university level class.

Yes, it's possible that god came up with evolution, set the ball rolling, and then let it take over.

So what? What does that tell us about evolution that studying evolution itself won't? How can you prove it if it were to be true? And who created god?

It's also possible santa started up evolution, but that gets you nowhere either.

Creationism is a word that is used to mean opposition to the theory of evolution. If your question is, "Why can't God and evolution co-exist?" the answer is that they can co-exist. If God made the Universe, and all that is in it, it would stand to reason that He made or foresaw evolution as well.

As far as your other statement, there is no reason to believe that life could not form on its own, without divine intervention. We just don't understand the details of how it happened yet. That's what gets the fundies all upset. Evolution kills their easiest way of convincing others (and themselves) that God "must" exist. You can still believe in God, it's just not as easy to be certain of Him as they'd like.

My answer is for Christians who are wrestling with Theistic Evolution. Non-believers - just keep on scrolling and don't even bother to read what follows.

As a Christian, I believe Genesis completely and literally.

This ia a great web site that answers many questions such as this one.

If you believe what the evolutionists say, you have to believe that fossils formed thousands or millions or whatever measure you subscribe to before man came onto the scene.
Death was not a reality until after Adam and Eve committed original sin. If you believe that, how could all living animals that make up the animal-related fossil record have died?

A cop-out answer would be that God did allow animals to die, but not man (until he sinned). I don't believe God would have allowed for the death of anything He created absent sin.

Yes it's possible that God used evolution as his plan to create life. (Evolution has nothing to do with the creation of the Earth).

It's also completely possible for evolution to start on its own. All it requires is preservation of genetic information, mutations, and limited resources.

The reason people say that Creationism and Evolution can't co-exist is because the term "Creationism" is generally used to refer to the belief that Genesis is a literally true account of the beginning of the world, life, and humanity. This account conflicts heavily with evolutionary theory, which is why they can't coexist.

However, if you're using "Creationism" in the sense that "a creator exists" then there's not really a contradiction.

Yes, perhaps it's possible - though unlikely - 'that God used evolution as his plan to create the earth'.

But then what, exactly, would be his part in it? Evolution works by itself, and over millions of years creates new life-forms that exploit untapped ecological niches to find new ways to survive.

You don't need a deity to do anything for that to happen.

You may believe that the earliest cell had a supernatural origin if you wish, but thereafter it seems that your deity wandered off for over four billion years and let the system get on with things. If you're happy with that, fine.

You religious apologists just love tweaking your definitions to fit science. Once your ideas are disproven, you change them to make them fit in the smallest margins. Get real and understand that there is no god. There's even doubt about the existence of Jesus! Creationism and Evolution cannot co-exist! Evolution is verified science, creationism is made-up jibber jabber. "Well, I mean, there was no Adam and Eve. Of course not, but you know, God still said 'Let there be light' and on the 7th day he rested." You can't pick and choose the stories, it's the word of your GOD. Who are you to doubt parts and accept the others? It's all wrong. I just wish more people would question things that don't make sense.

Why God needs to create through Evolution.

"To Him is due the primal origin of the heavens and the earth: When He decreeth a matter, He saith to it: "Be," and it is. " Holy Quran 2:117

No the Bible is very clear - the earth started 4,000 years ago, which rules out the possibility that we have been evolving for millions of years. If it says it in the Bible then we have to follow it literally.

Apart from the bit about smashing babies heads into the rocks - we ignore that.

The Pope, Catholic Church, Church of britain and mainstream church homes all settle for evolution and the vast bang!! Lord Carey the former Archbishop of Canterbury placed it ok – “Creationism is the fruit of a fundamentalist attitude to scripture, ignoring scholarship and severe discovering, and complicated diverse understandings of certainty”!!
