What can we in Canada offer a US tourist that they can't find at home and in most cases much cheaper? Why would they want to come to Canada? Our hotels are more expensive, our restaurants are more expensive and our gas is more expensive. Add to that our higher taxes and a holiday in Canada is less than attractive.

Part of the problem is that many Americans are disenfranchised with Canada and it's liberal / socialist political agenda. We feel you don't support your neighbor and ally in various global issues. So now you must pay the price, many Americans will simply not spend one single dollar in Canada.

Also - it is just so darn cold there...lol summer lasts like 2 weeks. ( I live in Florida)

I'd try a slogan like.

"Take a break from the primary election campaign, visit beautiful Canada and we promise you won't have to look at Hillary or Rudy the whole time you're here."

Or

"Canada, not the #1 destination of illegal aliens."

The downturn in tourism is due to middle class jobs going away - not the destinations!
