I would imagine something more along the lines of the Healthy Choice soups (which I love!!)
Here's one example, which is my personal fave, the Country Vegetable.

Those soups are also very high in sodium, especially the first two. If you want to know if the soup has MSG, read the ingredients on the label. If it is not listed, it's not in the soup or is there in extremely small quantities.

I suggest that you learn to make soup. It is extremely easy, the ingredients are fresher, it will taste better, and you can be very sure it is MSG free.

Try www.vegetariantimes.com or www.foodtv.com as excellent starting places for soup recipes.

You'll need to read the ingredients label. I think you'll find the least MSG in Progresso, though.

Now, you might want to try making your own soup. It's a great way to use leftovers. In fact, right now in my kitchen I have a crock of soup simmering made from chopped turkey, peas and carrots, some water drained off from corn the night before, an onion and some chopped celery, half an envelope of instant garlic mashed potatoes, and a bit of oregano, garlic, sage, and a bay leaf. Oh yes, and a can of tomatoes and another of tomato sauce, with an extra can of water added.

Jen, MSG doesn't give you the runs, it makes you tired and loopy. I experienced the same problem that you have the last 2 times I ate Chinese food. I won't eat it any more, no matter how cheap or convenient. My Dad has severe allergies to MSG and it makes him tired, gives him headaches, etc., but never the runs. When they came to visit me in November, I called all of my favorite restaurants and asked them to check their kitchens for ingredients containing MSG. Some refused, others were happy to do it. MSG, or Accent, is a common ingredient in Asian cooking. Just stay away from those restaurants altogether.

If you are serious about cutting out MSG, try going for organic brands which are getting more common in supermarkets now. Another thing to watch out for is that MSG isn't always obviously labelled. yeast extract, natural flavorings are also other names that just mean MSG- so be careful of "hidden msg".

Good luck!

None, no canned or packaged anything is good for you. Try homemade soups. They taste 100 times better than them and are healthier and you actually know what's going into them. (including Msg and sodium)

Campbell's Chunky soups have no MSG, according to their labels.

And Gary (above) certainly is correct.

Make your own soup. Boil water, drop an egg, put soy sauce for taste, put some egg noodles (available in asian store).

Then you can experiment as to what other vegetable you want to add, i.e. sliced thin napa cabbage, sliced thin cabbage, carrots.

Then if you are a real soup junkie like me, you can make your own broth. Boil any slice of meat and use the broth. Try to use a teaspoon of fish sauce instead of salt.
