I eat real foods: leafy greens, whole grains, lean meats, fresh fruits, low-fat dairy, et cetera. I'd like to purge the fortified and enriched foods from my diet because they should be unnecessary. Does the government not trust us to make healthy food choices?

I only consume whole oats and Kashi cereals. the shorter the list of ingredients the less processed a food item as and the healthier it is.

the US government is not there to protect the health of the people, that is up to the individual. there was a time when the US lead the world in health, safety, etc. now we are about 5th on the list as high profits for big business is the new priority.

There is almost nothing healthy about breakfast cereal. The fortifying and enriching is the only thing that moves it beyond pure junk. You should be able to find some organic stuff with minimal fortification (and flavor) or maybe make your own granola.
