Nobody REALLY knows what Jesus said....or if Jesus actually was who they say he was for that matter. See, the whole problem here is that MAN wrote the bible and supposedly GOD spoke through man to write it. But how do you know? So, now every looney toon out there can write his own version and claim god spoke through him, but how do you know it was god and not his alternate personality? Well, because you need to have faith to get into heaven. So, you have faith in this guy or guys that wrote this book and for all you know he was a nut case but you cant question it because then you will surely go to hell. Then, to make matters worse, a new group of guys come along and they decide they are best able to interpret what the last group wrote in the bible. Now not only do you have different versions of a Bible but even different interpretations of what it means. And, again, with all of these different stories and interpretations, if you question them you are hell bound. How did our civilization put up with this for so long and how much longer will they go along? It really is amazing if you try to reason it all. By pure logic, if there is a higher power as the bible says (whatever version and interpretation you have chosen), wouldn't that higher power make it easier on us by telling us which version of the story is correct? Why we he leave it up to us to guess? I mean, after all, isn't it just a guess as to which one is the correct version? And if you guess incorrectly, you go to hell!? Come on people, be reasonable, does all of this really make sense!?

Because at one point or another a religious, political or social leader decided to slightly alter the rules in order to serve their own needs and then used their influence people to follow in their direction ... for example Henry VIII "founding" the protestant aspect of christianity to allow for divorce.
Or a large number of individuals within a denomination become unhappy with the direction which the 'church' they belong to is taking and form a group with the same core beliefs but a different value system. In this case the difference is in interpretation of the bible.

Evidently none understand that the Church is not contained within the walls of a building. The Church is the body of people that are followers of Christ Jesus and have been saved. Therefore, there can be those saved and part of the church from different denominations and also those who are NOT saved and part of the church from different denominations. The foolish pride of many get in the way of seeing truth.

In terms of Christian denominations the differences are in the minute details, the theology and doctrines. But the basic message is the same: Jesus is the Son of God, died on a cross, etc. The denominations are basically just a matter of personal-preference-what's-your-style type stuff. Conservative vs. Crazy-Charismatic-Bible-Beater ;D
No one who is honest and sincere would say "you're wrong cuz you're a methodist, and I'm right cuz I'm presbyterian."

You clearly do not understand the concept of denominations. I would say only about three of four actually claim to be the only Christians, and they are heretics.
Denominations are around for those who differ in some views but hold to the Triune God ....

Lucid,
Satan has created divisions in CHRIST'S Church. You have probably seen his work and know it as well as I do. There are far more than hundreds though. I suggest that we get together and study the scriptures. There are Churches out there who follow The scriptures rather than Man's Creeds if you read, study, and obey HIS WORD it is easy to find them. Have a great day. We begin Bible Study at 7pm this evening. Should I save YOU a seat? (Ha, Ha)
Thanks,

Everyone who believes, believe their interpretations of a particular religion are right. If they didn't, then they wouldn't be believers. People (most) need to believe in something in order to function in a world of many mysteries. There isn't one belief set that is the right one...it's all what you feel in your heart is right. The majority of folks are just easily brainwashed due to their insecurities of the unknown. I'm thankful I see through all the mess.

While there are different denominations, we all Believe one thing, Jesus is our hero..
It is like your body, You have ears, eyes, arms, legs, head, feet. All parts, but create a whole. We are all parts of the WHOLE Church..
The differences are human made. We don`t like make- up, so none allowed in our club. We don`t believe in eating fish on Friday, so you can`t be part of our club if you eat fish on Friday.. It has nothing to do with the faith and belief in our God..

I think it is the same reason there are like a hundred different types of potatoe chips. No seriously. People have different styles (flavors), the have various socio-economic needs (Price), they need to hear a specific message (like"low salt content", diabetic safe).
