I started to wonder when does someone healthy starts feeling the age physically.. please do not give me the it is all about your mind and heart thing. I am looking for scientific facts or personal experiences.

the average male peaks in strength, speed, and endurance at the age of 27...

me personally i am 32 and been lifting for 15 yrs and running for about 7...

only now am i slightly weaker than when i was younger...maybe my max bench has gone down about 10 or 15 pounds and such...but with the slight loss of the power speed and endurance comes a state of mind that is much more solid and powerful...for example, when i box around at the gym, now, i have the ferver to not give up no matter what kind of a pounding i am taking, and now i have the knowledge that allows me to explode when i should and relax when i should.

so with age you still have something to gain beyond that 27 yr marker.

It varies from person to person. And it's not in your head, it's mostly in your genetics, family history, lifestyle, and diet/exercise. If you stay active you will probably first start to notice decline around 40 or so. As you get into your upper 20's and 30's you may notice that your metabolism decreases, you can't eat as much as you used to without gaining weight.

If you are a very serious athlete you'll start to notice a decline more quickly. This is because you are used to performing at your maximum capability which will start to fall off in your 30's. But for someone who doesn't really push that physical limit, you won't notice a decline until closer to 40.

As for your current situation, you should be noticing that you are stronger than at 18. Men usually stop growing sometime between 21 and 25. You may not be as limber as you were but you should be stronger and probably more coordinated than at 18.

In your late 30's you will start noticing stiffness and uncomfortableness when you wake up. I have noticed I have to stretch a little more when I start to play, but I still run b-ball for 2 hours, I still fight, I still run. My advice is never stop exercising, I stopped for about 2 years, restarted when I was 38 and could definetely notice a strength loss. So in my opinion you are good to go till about 36-38, then you will start to notice a small decline in physical condition. Just never stop exercising.

You have at least a couple good years left. At 46 years old I still bicycle 50 miles every saturday and regularly workout through the week. During the guess my age game noone ever gets close to being right. The only real bummer is when girls lose interest when they find out I'm almost as old as their dad. lol
PS: You really are only as old as you feel.

Men physically develop until the age of 25. After that you just maintain your physique for a while and after about 10 years you begin to age. Of course, if you have the right diet, exercise and you dont' smoke you will age much slower. So it is up to you.

When he marries. (LOL) OH IT's A JOKE, PEOPLE.

Al Lewis, (famous for playing Grandpa Munster on the Munsters, was also a basketball scout...) said on the Bob and Tom show a few years ago that the secret to staying young is to keep chasing women...but whatever you do, don't catch one. That will age you pretty quick.

I thought it was particularly funny because it's true for both... ;o)

Maybe after 40 or sometimes 50 but scientists say that humans are more or less don't behave more elder than 12 yrs.

Endurance athletes don't peak until mid to late 30's, and decline isn't noticeable until mid-40's. That's how it worked for me anyway, and if you crunch numbers on marathon and triathlon results, it would show about the same thing.
