Find a small company that is growing. You will probably like that better. I'm the same age as you. I had a job like that but the commute was too much for me so I found another job closer (w/ no growth opportunities). I miss my old job. I even had a chance to go back but my husband didn't want me to. It was over an hour each way. With any kind of traffic, it would take me over an hour and a half each way. We get snow and ice here for many months. I'm in New England. I'm working here and going to school part-time (MBA/Accounting).
As much I don't like this job (not enough work to do, dysfunctional atmosphere, nice people), I need the money. I have learned some new skills.
Keep looking. Maybe consider volunteering to expand your network and your skills. Best of luck to you.

If you quit voluntarily, that wasn't your best move ever. Would have been wise to find another job first.

Keep looking for a new job - good luck. And if the next job doesn't work out, don't quit until you have something else lined up.

I could say quitting before finding something new is a no-no but it's too late for that. Your next step is finding something equal to or greater than what you had. Advice? Never do that again especially if you like eating everyday :)

Try collegejobsources.com.
There is a $34.95 fee to join but there is sooo much to choose from. Work as many jobs as you want. Some of the companies give you $100 up front to work for them.
