my problem is, how is this blasphemy?

Blasphemy is when you use the name of God in vain.
The 3rd commandment i think says Thous shalt not use the name of the lord in Vain.

So if muhammed is just a prophet (i have yet to hear of any prophecies of his which were fulfilled, unlike Jesus who fuflilled over 300 and did not kil anyone) why is taking his name in vain blasphemy?

It can not be blasphemy as he is not god

if i take Daniels or moses' or peters or pauls name in vain or isaiah, this is not blasphemy

isaiah is a prophet, why is it not blasphemy

as he is not the Lord

Muslims, by taking the name of muhammed in vain and calling it blasphemy, you are saying

1.he is a God
2. How your releigeon can not defned itself therefor you hjave to defend it.

You have no commandments concerning blasphemy, is this why you have to defend every possilbe instance of it even when its not directed towards allah?

Dear All

We the Muslims Never Insult any of the Holy Prophet including Jesus Christ peace be on him. If at all if any Muslim Do Insult Jesus Christ or any other Holy Prophet, he or she shall go out of their faith of Islam. Thsat is the reason why Muslims cannot tolerate any one insulting their holy prophet or any other prophets peace be on all of them.

Is this reason not enough as a justification to respect our Holy Prophet, whose folllowers are second to you Christians in the present world. Show me any incident where any Muslim has ever Insulted Jesus Christ or Moses Peace be on them.

Recently you have noticed that Muslims of Holland had protested over the Cartoons defaming our Holy Prophet peace be on him, which incurred financial loss to the country and loss of lives towards Muslims. Is this not serve you as a reminder?

Ask Muslims they know a lot about Jesus Christ peace on him and we believe that his birth was a miracle, we believe in his other miracles perfortmed by him and it is mentioned in our Holy Book Quran. A complete chapter is dedicated to Virgin Mother Mary peace be on her, which is not there even in Bible.

While the Jews donot believe in Jesus as a prophet, do not respect mother Mary and as per your belief Jesus was crucified by them and still you respect them and they are your friends and partners. What did Muslims do to you christians, we saved you and you took shelter in Muslim Lands when Jews massacred christians. When Jews were massacred by christain Hitler they took shelter in Muslim Lands and there are still millions of them there.

Please Tell me honestly why do you Christians hate Muslims inspite of we respecting Jesus and Mary peace be on them and never insult them. We recite their names and their episodes in our daily prayers too. We believe Jesus peace be on him coming again before the end of this world.

You are asking about the fulfillment of the prophecies of our Holy Prophet peace be on him. He said:

Holy Makkah which was built by Prophet Abraham peace be on him will be taken over by Muslims.

According to authentic narrations, the Prophet, upon him be peace and blessings, gave his community the glad tidings that they would conquer Damascus, Jerusalem, Iraq, Persia, Istanbul (Constantinople) and Cyprus, and that the religion of Islam would reach as far as the remotest corners of the world in the east and west.

The Prophet mentioned that there would be signs forewarning the approach of the last day.

a. The barefooted bedouins competing in building tall buildings. The massacre of civilians in the Vietnam War by American troops who had little idea why they were there, and the increase of such conflicts, is further illustration of the fulfillment of this prophecy. As are the rise of insane mass murders, of children killing children, such as Jamie Bulger.

e. The increase of the use of riba (usury/interest) so that no one will able to escape being tainted by it. This clearly the state of the world economy today.

f. The enemies of the Muslims dividing the Muslim's wealth and lands between them, the Muslims abandoning jihad, and concerning themselves only with the worldly matters. We have already mentioned this.

g. The increase of literacy.

h. The decrease of religious knowledge due to the disappearance of scholars.

i. The increase of musical instruments, and the Muslims making it lawful even though the Prophet has forbidden them.

j. The increase of sexual promiscuity, and new diseases that people had not herd of before spreading amongst them as a consequence of that. This is clear, with the arrival of AIDS, and other previously unheard of viruses.

k. Appearance of Dajjals (liars), each claiming to be a Messenger of Allah, while Muhammad is the last messenger. There are numerous examples of this, starting with Musailima, who arose in the time of the Prophet, just before his death, to more modern liars such as Elija Muhammad, founder of the Black American racist movement "The Nation of Islam", and India's pretender Gulam Ahmed of Qadian.

l. Nakedness of women while still being dressed and people copulating like donkeys in public. Obviously a direct reference to soft and hard-core pornography, which has become a dark stain on our society in recent times.

m. The drinking of wine becoming common, and the Muslims making it lawful by calling it another name.

n. Shouting in the mosques and lack of unity.

o. The worst and most ignorant will become leaders and they will be oppressors. Bill Clinton, saddam Hussain and majority of worlds Leaders are prime examples.

p. A man will obey his wife and disobey his mother, and treat his friends kindly and shun his father.

q. Men will wear silk and gold, and the making of it lawful by the Muslims even though the Prophet had forbidden it for the men of his 'Ummah (nation).

r. People will abandon the religion for a small worldly gain, and keeping to the religion will be like holding two hot coals.

Conclusion:

How is it that even though the Prophet made all these prophecies, Christian missionaries are still trying to reject the prophetic mission of Muhammad (pbuh). Ever since the advent of Islam, Christians have been unable to challenge the teachings of Islam, therefore they have had to try and resort to lies and distortions of the Holy Qur’an in order to support their claims. They have fabricated lies against the Prophet, claimed he was epileptic, claimed he was conspiring with Jew/
Christians and some have even claimed he was the devil in disguise. We would like to ask those so-called missionaries, aren’t these the exact claims the Jews made against the prophet Jesus (pbuh). However, they seem to be in a state of ignorance fuelled by pride and prejudice, adamant of repeating the same mistakes the Jews made by refusing to open their hearts to the beauty of Islam. As Allah informs us in the Qur’an:

And say: "Truth has (now) arrived, and Falsehood perished: for Falsehood
is (by its nature) bound to perish." (Qur’an 17.81)

In the last I shall tell that Christians go to Bangladesh, Indonesia, Sudan, Afghanistan and Iraq to propagate their Religion and do Missionary work. Their objective is to convert Muslims to Christians. Of course by giving Food, clothing, shelters and medicines. Remember you cannot fool God Almighty. Charity is accepted by God Almighty only on Humanitarian grounds not on the intension of converting people's faith.

I still as a Muslim shall advice the Government authorities of Sudan to let that Christian woman teacher go back to her country unharmed, that is humanity and Islam.

I believe there is a political motive in all of this. The poor lady is so nice and went to Sudan to teach these children, she really does not deserve all of this.

The prophet Mohammed apparantly had sex with a 9 year old girl when he was in his 50's - is that ok? Is that better than giving a teddy bear his name? I wouldnt have though this debauched man would have cared anyway.

Blasphemy in this case is nonsense and all the countries of the world should speak out and support this woman who has become just a pawn to attract attention.

Of course Muhammad is allah-like to Muslims. The 1st pillar of islam is faith and Muslims have to say, "There is no god worthy of worship except allah and Muhammad is His messenger". No other "prophet" is mentioned in this declaration. It's all about Muhammad.

One small incident in Sudan and the world media is there in a flash, and yet you claim this is not a war against Islam, yeah right.I'am a Muslim and according to my beliefs they were wrong to arrest her but that aside, the media are like vultures waiting for a incident where they can try and ruin the name of Islam, and yet in the face of tyranny Islam remains strong and grows stronger with each criticism, all other major religions are in decline Islam is the only major Religion that continues to grow, ask yourselves why?

You are right, it is not blasphemy.
By our standards.
They have their own religion, they can call something blasphemy even if it doesn't make sense.
But you are right, they are calling him a deity, which they openly say he is not, so they are contradicting themselves
OR
they have decided that anything objecting their religion is blasphemy.

I agree 100% with you but I think for them it is like when a Muslim Kindergarten teacher in a very orthodox christian school let the children name their teddy GOD. It is insulting for them. But us Christians will surely never arrest and lock up the poor Muslim teacher or would we.

Well, I think since we should respect others' religions, I would be offended if they named the bear "Jesus". That name is reserved for only ONE, and that is the resurrected Jesus.
Blasphemy can occur in any religion. It's whatever the sect holds sacred and unfortunately, there is too much "political correctedness" in this country.

The catch to this definition is "a sacred entity". Since it is sacred to them, it is blasphemy.
