I found a site online called The Camera Professionals and I ordered a camera, it was a good price for digital, paid with credit card, printed out receipt as proof.
Thecameraprofessionals called me and said i must order a battery and charger separately for about $ 400 more .... I told them no , I would get battery and charger from a different source.
Camera never arrived, I wrote to that company and have not heard from them since.
Is this a scam service or what ?
I'm terrified cause I gave them my credit card number !
What do you suggest I do ??

You're being taken. The Camera Professionals is a well known scam company.

cancel your order NOW (if you can).

Make sure that they didn't charge your credit card (check on-line or call your company). If they did, then dispute the charge. They probably didn't charge your card however. They don't 'steal' money from people, they just 'con' them.

Their regular game is to offer a camera for a terrific price, and then not sell it to you for that price unless you buy a bunch of overpriced accessories (where they make up their money). So, it's a scam- but not outright thievery. You should be fine if you just cancel the order.

you did the right thing by not agreeing to purchase the battery and charger from them. good for you.

DON'T cancel your credit card (as suggested below). Even if you did, you'd still be responsible for charges that you made prior to canceling it. You want the credit card company on your side in this one.

Rule of thumb... if a price seems too good to be true, it probably is. Do some comparison shopping to see round about what the average price being paid is... Also, check the Better Business Bureau if you're unsure of an online store. Google them.

There are a lot of these who will pull that same game on consumers when in reality the battery and charger and all the necessary accessories come with the camera! They'll try to charge you extra for a strap, or other things that are completely ridiculous, and their prices for them are out of control! Some of them will even get rude with you if you tell them you don't want to purchase all of the "extras".

Buyer beware... there are a lot of scams out there on the internet. I personally think its worth the "extra" money for piece of mind that I'm not getting screwed.

I buy all of my gear from Adorama.com. They are great and won't try to sell you anything you don't want/need. And if you don't like a product you can return it for a full refund no questions asked. They've always been really quick to get items to me and have great communication once the order has been made. B&H Photo & Video is another great vendor. And both of these places have good competitive prices.

Call your CC company to reverse the charges and possibly issue you a new card with different numbers.
Usually batteries and charger are supplied with a camera. Those sites that say you need to buy them aside from the camera are crooks.
Next time check on the site that you are planning to order from with BBB or resellerratings.com

Contact your credit card issuer and tell them to stop payment and then cancel your credit card. Have a new one issued.

Try contacting the Better Business Bureau where ever The
Camera Professionals are located.

Have your attorney contact these ripoffs.

The site resellerratings.com shows thecameraprofessionals.com with a 1.1 of 10 rating. Unlike golf, here a low score is a bad thing.

Good luck! Hope you get your money back and finally get a camera. Next time, try keh.com or bhphotovideo.com or adorama.com

You need to contact your credit card company and dispute any charges from this company. You certainly don't need to cancel the card. The advantage of using a credit card over a debit card is that you have legal protection against fraud, if indeed that is what this is.

wow, what a scam site. sorry you got ripped off.

a note about their site has all these verifications that they are legit. Notice how you can't click on any of them except for Ratings Planet. That's probably a fake site also. It would not even find Adorama.com which is a very popular and legitimate site.

Follow everyone's instructions and you'll be fine.
