Its the name of a packet I recieved from some Jehova's Witnesses... Tell me your experiences with Jehova's Witness GOOD BAD ??? both???
I disagree with half of the interepretations they have of the Bible.....FOR INSTANCE: Chapter 8
During a discussion of the "what the LORDS PRAYER" IS they take
ReVelation 510 since the days of the apostles God has been selecting faithfull Christians in order to complete the number 144,000
The question to me is , these JEHOVAS WITNESSES ARE WORRIED ABOUT SOMETHING THEY HAVE NO CONTROL OVER.... The chosen elect are to be chosen by God alone and it doesnt matter if they are baptist, pentecostal , catholic or a jehova's witness!!!!
After reading their book it seems to me that they are choosing their own assembly of 144,000 lol Whcih is Jesus' Job !!!
What I am getting at is they will Use the Bible for their own advantage WHEN THEY WANT TOO.. by slipping in passages to prove truth, ?nebody somebody agree

I MUST SAY.. to the very last commment... that I was saved SOULY through JESUS CHRIST.... Because of God's mercy...I sought Jesus and on Feb 14 2003, (V-day) I was saved and actually was a personal sacred thing to me and if you havent gotten past the " JESUS LOVES YOU AND HE WILL SAVE YOUR SOUL STAGE" your not as educated as you think you are.... You offend people by proving their lack of knowledge indirectly and your superiority on the matter thats why Jesus said that the most important prayer is by yourself alone.....not on the street corner or porch.....how does it make you feel to be rejected 100 times but win one soul.. probably good but You can win 50 souls out of 50 if you journey with God and are not looking to save souls....We arent apostles if you could perform miracles then so be it... go door to door and marvle people into believing... aint my thing

The whole "theme of the Bible" is Salvation..cut and dried...(not many understand what this means in it's entirety) and, this is why they have so many differant "doctrines" (which mess up so many people) and confuse them...when actually, it is so "easy" God never made things "hard", that would be against His program...(if you can get this, you can get anything!) understand? "Peace!" (People make, and have made things hard..) not God... bye!

LiveFor2day: You say you disagree with "half" of the interpretations. I wonder. Might you not be better served in examining the things you agree with and exploring them further before trashing the things you don't agree with? Just some food for thought.
Born Again Atheist: That's a simple question ... what happens to other believers since only 144,000? In the same chapter of Revelation that mentions the 144,000 (Revelation 7) reference is also made to a "great crowd which no man was able to number." They are the ones tosee he fulfillment of God's promise at Psalm 33:11 that "the meek shall inherit the earth"
Gistory: Elevating one national group over another? There are members of that 144,000 all over the globe?
Towlieban Barbie: Respectfully, why are you assuming we put greater emphasis on the 144,000 than on the "Great Crowd" I have been a witness for over 38 years and I can tell you that that is patently untrue. It can be said that the 144,000 put more emphasis on the great crowd because it was their job to gether those with the earthly hope.

Jehovah's witnesses don't claim to be a member of Christendom. They are God's visible organization on earth. Hence the name Jehovah's Witnesses. It is an all volunteer group. Those folks up in headquarters knock on doors too. Nobody gets a salary.
The entire group is dedicated to helping you. God is sending you a messenger. You do not have to listen. It is their obligation to try and help you because in doing so, they help themselves. These people are very serious and dedicated towards spreading the good news of the kingdom. Soon Satan will attempt to have this work stopped because he knows his time is short. While their is still time you may want to listen to what they have to say. What does it cost for God's messenger to save your soul? Many witnesses have died trying to get you a message of hope. How many more will you send away.

Read a few verses down where it talks of a 'great multitude...of all nations...' before God. Putting more importance on the 144,000 and forgetting this is very heretical. (Revelation 7:9)
Why the JWs would think they WERE the Jews is very weird.
Salvation is by righteousness in word, deeds, and heart. Not being a particular sect, as this verse clearly states.

If only people could learn Mathematics properly, these kind of silliness would wreck in a second, but it's religion, their litlle tidy world of gods and devils is more important than earthling truth =) Anyway, Jeovah's Witnesses are so damn incovenient, they bore you at the most unsuitable hours.

Without sounding critical, JW's do not interpret the Bible correctly. God is not coming to them every week to give them a bit of revelation to publish the 'Watch Tower" magazine and distribute it every week.
My major in college was Religious Studies and Philosophy. I have also spent a year in Seminary and been a Missionary for a non-denominational Christian church.
JW's are not telling the truth, and their teachings are totally unbiblical. If you could read the Bible and understand it, you could see the differences and discern which religions are the Truth and which are not.

I'd like to cut past the JW crap and get right to the meat of your question. The question that appears in the subject header, being, "What does the Bible really teach?"
Answer: Xenophobia
How: By the very nature of it being nation based and referring to it's people as being "chosen."
Result: By attempting to elevate one group of people over another, it makes the "other" something to be shunned and feared.

Revelation 22:18, 19 is a warning: "If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book, And if any shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life..."
This is what A CULT does. (JW....New World Bible)

I believe that the Bible teaches us what we should do in order to get to Heaven. As is "Love thy neighbor as thine self".

P.S.- I have no idea what a Jehova witness is... I've heard of them, just don't know who/what they are.

I'm one of Jehovah's Witnesses (20 years now)....college educated, from many other churches and such prior to that.
I became one of JWs due to research and as it is the truth.
JWs do not pick the 144,000. Jehovah picks them, then gives them to Jesus. Jesus doesn't get to set them in their seats in heaven either. That also belongs only to his Father.
Rev. 5:9, 10 and 14:3 show that only 144,000 get to learn the new song of kingship and priesthood. No one else is allowed to have it/learn it.
I'd suggest having a Bible study each week with whoever is calling on you.
