A coworker of mine said that they usually go on sale around late january/early february because that is when the manufacturers come out with their new lineups. He said that retailers use the super bowl as an advertising scheme to push out the old models. Has anyone else heard anything like this?

you should be able to get some serious bargains after the holidays. If you do your homework and find a model you are interested in, you could start to monitor www.pricegrabber.com to see who is selling it at the best price.

Black friday is the biggest sale of the year. Couple weeks prior to christmas and the 2 weeks leading to superbowl also have good deals. If you want to save some money look for a floor model TV, you can usually find one near march-april as several replacement models come out at this time.

A couple other people said it before me and I wanted to say it too ... Black Friday was the BEST time to buy a set. I got mine last year and tracked the sales afterwards. No one offered the set I picked up for anywhere near the price I paid for it - not for months afterwards. If you still have them, keep the black friday sales ads and compare them to current sales. If you see one selling for the black friday price I would scoop it up.

Companies usually push them well before April, which is usually the end of their financial year. This helps to bump up their profits and makes them look stronger on the exchange.

Just find the TV you want at an cheap online store, like newegg or buy.com and get the store you want to buy it at to match that price. Most stores will.
