I would like to put the front cover of my report into the body of an e-mail to be sent out for a presentation. How do I do that? Also how can I make it link to a full document? The document is in a PDF format.

Instead of doing all this why don't you send the pdf as attachment? Anyway....
You should capture the cover pressing the Print Screen key and then paste it on Paint. In Paint you should select the cover and save it as JPEG. Then you can put it in your message using Insert > Picture.
Then click on the image, click on Insert > Hyperlink ....
