All religions have gone from love to power, money, and control. But we continue to support them.

If religion does not rule lives, why is most wars started based upon religion? Why is the "religious" right such a large power in this country? Why are churches sitting empty most of the time and there are homeless sleeping in the street? Why are the terrorists preaching that their acts are from God? I believe in God. I believe in the fact that he has sent people to save us. We just get the messages wrong.

RELIGION IS A RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS. IF PEOPLE TWIST IT AND MAKE IT OTHER THAN LOVE THEN THEN ARE NOT RIGHT WITH JESUS.

You ask two questions:
1) Why do people let religion rule their life? (a better version of your primary question),
and 2) Why are religions corrupt?

Unfortunately, both questions are either bizarrely naive or utter sophistry (i.e., creating an invalid question or argument with faulty reasoning in the hope of deceiving someone into seeing their point-of-view) in that they presume all religions control those who seek comfort in them (which, granted, might be true, but only of a small minority of the population), and, certainly, only false religions and sects rely solely on power, money, and control (e.g., Buddhism outright rejects all three).

Regardless, such inflammatory questions neither merit nor require any further response from anyone.

Because these people are too stupid or lazy to rule themselves. Ramakrishna described the body in much the same ways as the Greek philosopher Socrates. The body is meant to be servant, not master, the senses being like unruly servants that must be brought under discipline. But some people refuse to exercize their right, if not duty, to think for themselves, or exercize their own Will (Volition), therefore, being lazy and undisciplined they have a preferenced for prepackaged and preprepared religious dogmas and philosophies, which have the spiritual nutritional value of Fast Food compared to a nice home cooked meal! You have a God given right, if not duty, to question all things. One is not an authority simply by claiming the title, you must prove it.

Because many people, and the populace of an inbred tribe or of a nation, consciously or unconsciously may need authoritative paradigms from above from powerful hieratic pastors and herders worth obedience and adoration,

saintly religious chiefs who will tell/teach them about more or less improbable transcendental things and so also govern their souls and their bodies deciding about their not only religious but also mundane interactions.

I live for God not my church. My church can' save me only Jesus Christ can. However, i know exactly what you are talking about. I live in a heavily populated mormon community and they live for their church, which is exactly what you said. Power, money, and control. They live for thier church not for God which is the big problem. Others have that problem as well.

all religions began with control, power then money..... then evolution took hold... the church began with the concepts of good and evil as a way of justifying their actions... but through evolution the human conscience developed and with it the understanding of right and wrong.... as we matured as a species we began to see that often right and wrong were opposite to good and evil... proving in the end natural evolution is stronger than religion...

I don't let religion rule my life, Jesus rules my life and directs me accordingly.

If a church is corrupt, find a different church, one who's ministries and financial dealings you support.

So is it really the conduct of the people in the religion you don't like, or is the real issue that you don't believe in God?

I am Pagan. And my faith (not religion) does not rule my life...I live my life and that is how my faith is.
But unlike christianity, islam, I do not and am not bound by silly stone age laws that dictate what I have to do.

Religion doesn't control my life in that way. I have freedom to love, to keep my money etc..I can do everything I want to do. I don't see it stopping me from my life. I don't want to go around killing, committing adultery and stealing so it doesn't bother me at all.

Because it gives or determine a parameter for your life, a guidelines you get from religion. A full fledged support for your whole living period that how you have to live in this dynamic world. How you to run, how you to speak, how you to sleep, how you to walk, how you to eat, how you to help others, how you to live with your spouse, with your parents, with your family, with your younger, with your elder, how you to work, how you to earn for your livelihood and how you to spend, how you to help poor, how you to take care who are below in economic race than you, how you to say prayer, how you to read the Holy book, how you to trust in the life after death, how you to pay Zakat, how you to keep fasting in Holy month of Ramadan, how you to perform religious rites, how you to sacrifice in the name of Allah, how you to take care who are handicapped or special needs required, how you to obey and submit before your Creator who is Allah and only Allah who created you and ever thing around you. Please go through the Holy book, read its english translation and I belive you will understand that who is Allah and why He created us, what is the reason behind creation.
Your assumption that love have converted to power is misleading. Love still persists see your own heart, do you not have love for others, do you not love with your spouse, with your kids, with your family. Power definition has a separate meaning and being a human being it is required, For money we struggle this is an economic race where every one of us working accoridng to our requirement. Why we learn or earn money, what is the basic theme of all this efforts is the ultimate to live with satisfaction and harmoy in life. To fullfill our requirement our needs compells us to work thats we work.
Religion gives a complete life concept where everything has been specified very categorically in holy book. Even rights of husband and wife, rights of parents, rights of your kids, your responsibility for your family and vice versa.
The procedure how to earn money, how to use power and how to control even covers with riligion.
