I would leave her/him home and ask a family member or friend to take care of things. Most likely they will do it for a small amount of money... or maybe even for free!

How long will you be gone? We were gone for a week and because we have a doggy door, we had someone come in twice a day to feed our dogs and play with them.
There are kennels that board dogs, but check them out, I don't look at the cost, I look at what I am getting for my money!
Some PetsMarts have doggy hotels, and you can also check with your vet, they sometimes board pets or could possibly give you some referrals.

I use to be a kennel owner. You need to go tour any kennel you are considering. Be careful about going with the cheapest. You get what you pay for!! Be wary of any kennel that does not give you an open tour of the facility. Check with your vet, alot of them do boarding. They are good for short term like a week-end, but for long-term your dog would be happier with a regular kennel. Pet-sitters are another option, but be very sure you get referances and check them out thoroughly.

I would call all of the boarding kennels around your area and get their prices and ask them what the dogs do all day and night!! I know if it were my dogs, being in crates and kennels would not fly with them, so I would not be able to use a place that board in kennels!! Good Luck, I hope you find a great place to put them!!!

Boarding a dog at any good facility will probably be expensive. Your only other option would be to either drop the dog off with a freidns or relative, or have a friend or relative stay at your house while you're gone.

Some Pets Mart stores have a Pet Hotel. Check in your area.
Or if there is someone that you trust to stay with your dog and keep an eye on your things.

Kennels are good, if they interact with the dogs and such. Like Doggy Day Care. Or if you have a family memeber or a freinds who can take the dog, let them keep it.

I usually hire someone to come and feed my pets if I'm gone for more than three days. If I'm gone for less than that, I usually just leave out extra food and water for them with one of those automatic food dispensers. Or you can always rely on friends and relatives for your doggys care.
