A broken heart and a contrite spirit.

"And ye shall offer for a sacrifice unto me a broken heart and a contrite spirit. And whoso cometh unto me with a broken heart and a contrite spirit, him will I baptize with fire and with the Holy Ghost...(3 Nephi 9:20, Book of Mormon.)

That we do what is the Fathers Will. Such as, knowing it's wrong to lie. Some people lie because its the easy way out. The sacrifice is not to do our will but the will of the Father. That would be to tell the truth even if it hurt. These sacrifices happen daily when we exercise the teachings from the Bible.

I being Christian, the Lord does not need any sacrifice from us like fasting abstaining, torturing ourselves etc, Can't understand how this can get us closer to the Lord, he has given us the gift of a body our duty is to look after it by clothing and feeding it, by doing the above we are actually going against his wishes, We should love our brothers as ourselves and instead of spending our time praying we should do social work look after the sick etc For me God is in the eyes of Mother Theresa. In the end when asked what we did with our talents what do we say?, we spent our entire life praying or mediating, our contribution to humanity being NIL

The only sacrifice that Lord desires from us and that too for our own benefit is to help others to the best of our capabilities and hold on steadfastly to truth against all odds.

He wants us to sacrifice sin and be obedient to his ways. He also wants us to make sacrifices for the benefit of others. These sacrifices fall into two categories - our time and our money (possessions).
We are under the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2) which is to, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments” (Matthew 22:37-40). If we do these two things, we will be fulfilling all that Christ wants for us to do, “This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome” (1 John 5:3).

For the Lord desires mercy and not sacrifice, And the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings. For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart; These, O God, You will not reject.

Obedience.

1 Samuel 15:22 Samuel said, Has Yahweh as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of Yahweh? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen than the fat of rams.

Ourselves.

Romans 12:1-2 Therefore I urge you, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service. (2) Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God.

The Lord doesn't want us to sacrifice anything. The Lord sacrifice his life for us. All he wants in return is for you to go to heaven.

I don't think God expects any sacrifice. He wants us to learn from our own experiences in life. Some experiences are good, some are bad, but the point is the learning we get out of if, not forgetting that we attracted them to ourselves in this or in the past life.

Peace!

God is incorporeal - nirakari - and also full of all treasures and powers and virtues.... He does not ever need anything. He also does not want anything for Himself, but He wishes us to be as much like Him as possible. For that He likes us to make a GREAT SACRIFICE to Him.

He'd like us to sacrifice all the vices and weaknesses in us so that we can shine as Him.

People say ''I'd give my life for God''. Ok, ...but if you say God gave you the life ... then maybe God does not wish to take your life ... Instead He wishes to take your vices and weaknesses forever .... so that you can enjoy a plentiful happy, fulfilling life ..... How about this?

HE never ask for sacrifices from us; priests invented all these stories. I still can't understand why HE had not created 'good' human beings right from the start
