You need to do some exercise for about 30 to 45 minutes a day.. It's great to do them at the same time, but you can split it up if you have too.. Like take 3 10 minute walks.. Or if you have any exercise equipment do that.. There are also some great work out videos out there that do 15 minute miles... Umm.. You can do anything just to keep your heart rate up.. Like jumping jacks then run in place, then lunges.. Just mix it up and have fun! But I do recommend the work out videos for any free time!

Do stuff with your son. Take him to the park to play. Jog around the playground while he plays. Or play kickball with him. Dance in the living room to his favorite shows.

Do strenghthening exercises like sit-ups and push-ups. Leg lifts, 5lb dumbbells and the like work wonders. It would best to work out in the morning before he gets up, but I know that is difficult.

Also look at what you can do outside the house. Park in one of the farthest parking spots at work. Take the stairs. Small stuff will make big changes in time.

Exercise videos are excellent!!!
Choose ones that are at your level (Beginner, ect.) and then choose what kinds of exercise. Cardio, weight training, dance inspired, pilates, ect.

Personally I recommend the SELF workouts. They are great and work all parts of the body.

i think yeah, you're supposed to sustain an elevated heart rate for a certain amount of time to experience cardio benefit.

try these military calisthenic workouts!: http://usmilitary.about.com/od/armymanuals/a/arfm2120.htm

not a fan of military etc, but it makes sense that they'd use top fitness scientists to plan their regimes, so to speak.
