OK, I am a Christian. Although I may not always act like one it doesnt change who I am at the core. I'm quite embarrassed as a Christian at the snide and demeaning attitude I'm seeing here from mainly the people who seem to oppose atheism. Do I agree with the view, not at all, but I'm not here to try and impose religion on all who disagrees. Its that kind of mentality of force feeding that so many people have a problem with to start. No one hear has the right to judge or condemn. This may be more of a state meant than question, but I felt it necessary so those of you who oppose Christianity can see that you arent the only ones disgusted with some of the behavior you have to put up with. The name of the game is LOVE. Condemning someone for what they believe is not love, its obvious they have done plenty of research and being grown ups are perfectly capable of developing their own opinion, therefore, there is nothing you can do to change them.

Because we are facing, as a nation, a wave of Fundamentalism which is trying to drag our country back to the Dark Ages where religions were part of politics.
That's why we are not willing to sit quietly and do nothing. (If Christians were willing to stand up to their fundamentalists, we wouldn't have to "boldly" state our opinions.)

It's a problem to because you can't have any part of your life unaffected by religions trying to influence you or you children. I get very emotional about Atheism because I grew up in an ignorant, intolerant area where people believed everything was a punishment for not being a better Christian. People would go to your door, try to keep you from closing it and condemn you to hell if you wouldn't accept their belief and give money to their churches. It's a cult, it's harassment and it should not be. And quite simply, religion in ones home is alright, if that's what they choose, but I should not have to block it from politics, education, entertainment and other forms of business. If they want religion in education then they can teach it at home. Religion should have no business deciding the direction of a nation. Also, if they don't like movies or music or anything else of that nature then they can just not indulge in that. They have a choice and it does not mean forcing religion on me and other free thinking people like myself. If I seem abrasive then it's the fault of religion.... not me.

I agree, Love is what it is all about. The others on this board could take a page from your book. I always respect someone who has the spiritual fortitude and intelligence to meld faith with reason. I wouldn't necessarily say I'm opposed to Christianity, I can see the good it is capable of, it's just not for me at this point in my life. If all the Christians on this board were more like you I think Jesus would be happier with his people. Thanks a lot!

There are those in religion that because they think or believe that they are right in their beliefs, they have to try to save the souls of everyone else. It still comes down to belief. All religions say they are the true faith however, there is no proof of any religion being factual. It's all belief. Some folks just don't want to see that and they try to force their beliefs on others. The trouble with religion is that it is a form of brain washing. There in lyes the problems.

The great commission. Note, I am not supporting hostility, I am not on Answers enough to know what kind of behavior you are criticizing. However, answering critics of Christianity to the best of one's ability is a good thing. Also, some of them may be sincerely seeking an answer, and seekers may read even a hostile question and be taught by a good answer.

I am a believer but not a Christian.
I spend a lot of time here answering questions directly aimed at insulting or converting atheists.
Many Christians reveal the true nature of Christianity and it is not pretty.

I think that what you see in this forum is a backlash against a force-fed secular society where it is illegal to pray in schools, yet it is perfectly legal to wear Slayer t-shirts. It is fast becoming illegal for towns to put up Christmas displays because of the ACLU. This is not the America many of us grew up in, and we're uncomfortable with the fact that there are atheists aggressively attacking our way of life.

When you stand in the day the Books are opened and God is judging people by what they believed.
Those who believed that his name is Jesus Christ and he is 100% truth are given their reward.
Those who believed that all paths lead to Heaven and it's reward are judged and cast into the Lake of Fire.
Will you feel like you loved these people then?

Well it would be nice if Christians felt that way across the board. You are correct in your analysis however and I think there are more than a few Christians who come on here to fight when perhaps they should be living what they proclaim is the truth.

Keep in mind that a lot of the 'Christians' posting on here are actually trolls posting whatever they know will annoy atheists/nonbelievers.
The rest are just idiots.

Christianity has little to do with love.
You are mistaken about that. But many supposed "Christians" are these days. (And that's a good thing, to a point)
But what you're describing is more like Humanism, which is actually what a lot of moderate Christians practice.
But the bible itself is not a message of love, peace, or love for your fellow man...
(Just thought I'd point that out)
