My partner had a kidney stone in Germany 12 years ago, they treated it successfully and no further problems. This morning at 4am he woke up in excrutiating pain, I made him a hot water bottle, no temperature or anything like that - then he was very sick with lots of bile - we think this may have dislodged it because it is not painful anymore - will it return do you think? He is taking a urine sample to the Docs later today. What is the treatment?

Perhaps a search for "kidney stones" + dissolve might be of interest.

People who have had kidney stones are more likely to get them again. Kidney stones are usually diagnose by x-ray (looking to see if they appear in the urinary tract), a urine test that screens for blood in the urine, and patient input (are the symptoms similar to the ones he experienced when he was diagnosed with a kidney stone.

Most often the treatment is to let the stone pass on it's own. He (I assume it's a man. Men are more likely to gt kidney stones) will likely be prescribed pain medication, and sent home with a filter to urinate through (This is done to catch the stone and return to the doctor for study). In more rare cases, surgery or ultrasonic procedures are used to remove stones, but only after following the previous, more conservative path.

Good luck.

while kidney stones are painful, they do not generally cause vomiting. Your friend may now be suffering with gall stones. At any rate, seeing a doctor is indicated.
If a kidney stone, and small enough, the treatment is pain medication and wait for the stone to pass, if too large to pass the treatment of choice is lithotripsy.
Gall stones usually result in surgery to remove the gall bladder and any obstructing stones.

I know for a fact they hurt! I've passed three and the pain was worse than having a baby. My ex has passed many, many stones during the past 5 years and the doctors are discussing removing his one kidney that keeps manufacturing them! Pretty drastic, but he has passed at least 100 stones and had all the conventional treatments and takes oral medications.

kidney stones can return, as they may be hereditary.
One treatment i know of is a sonar bath, like a jacuzzi, blasting sound waves at a frequency which shatters the stones.
