A lady in the office is not getting along with her boss very well. He is trying to convince his boss and HR to let him fire her. At my company a manager can not fire someone without warning, they have to go through a due administrative process.

My friend needs the job bad and is broke. She is in a field with alot of competition and it would take her a year to find a new job if she was fired. She is thinking of begging for her job, or going to HR and see if she can talk them into saving her.

Have you ever begged a boss to not fire you, and been successful?

If the boss has already made up his mind, it won't work. If it's gotten to that, it's already over. And HR won't save her if her boss is ready to fire her.

If she's already been warned, she should straighten up her behavior, start job hunting now and consider temporary work to pay the bills in the interim.

She needs to correct the behavior that is getting her fired in the first place. Unless her boss is being unreasonable with tasks or doing insane things, she has to follow what he says.

She may need to step back, realize her position and shut up and do her job. If she is that worried about losing her job, she needs to make sure she does it spectacularly to keep it.

Going to HR will only look as if she is trying to uncut her bosses authority and probably get her into even more trouble. She needs to go to her boss, apologize for the problems they are having and ask what she can do to improve her job performance. She needs to accept responsibility for the problems (whether they are her fault or not!!).

well, first off your lady friend need to understand that not everyone she comes across is going to be nice... and there may be a rift or two... I think that she doesn't need to beg but to counter complain of the difficulties working with her boss... I think that sometimes it does work and it doesn't depending on how much the senior manager wants to deal with the issue...

Other wise she may also want to start looking for another job... now...
