I know people like Danny Bonaduce who only eat one meal a day. Let me tell you, he is in shape. He's said on the Adam Carolla Show that he generally just drinks water until dinner. Obviously it's better to eat several small meals and snacks throughout the day and I know about the body going into starvation mode when you don't eat enough, but can you eat one well-balanced meal a day and lose weight?

Danny is well known for his astute decisions and knowledge on a lot of subjects especially fitness and nutrition. Always a good idea to listen to the 'experts'

The human body is amazingly adaptable. You can subject it to all sorts of stupid things and survive, at least in the short term.

Yes, you can get by on one meal a day, and even lose weight, IF that one meal is less than you need to fuel daily activities. Its not the fastest or best way to do it, and you will feel and perform at less than your best.

Only one meal a day is not OK, but breakfast and one meal a day, typically dinner, should be fine. And yes, whatever people may say about starvation mode, it does help to shed weight. But if you skip breakfast too then I believe you would feel lethargic throughout the day. Not only would your body go into starvation mode, you would also be working at very low efficiency.

♥ No, because you are not getting enough nutrients for your body. You would be starving your body of healthy things to help you grow! The best way to lose weight is to eat 5 or 6 small healthy meals a day and exercise at least 3-4 times a week. :-) Good Luck!

I'm not in your country. As I knew there are a lot of people in my country eat only one meal in the morning, but during the day they will eat not only water but also milk or sweet instead of meal. You have to practice about 15-20 days , your starving will be lost. The people I said are monks.

Well, seems that it's more sociable to eat more than one. Try using the recordings that we are using at the office. It makes you feel VERY full after half of your food is eaten. No matter what size the plate....and we've had a lot of fun with this.....you get full half way through. Seems they were written up in a health newspaper a few months ago and everyone is now using them.

no that is not healthy. you'll be starving your body and it will hold all the fat it can get. plus once you go back to normal eating your going to gain the weight back plus some. the best thing to do is eat several times a day and smaller portions. to help yourself eat smaller portions i heard it works if you drink a glass of water right before you eat....it takes up space and you wont want to eat so much b/c you'll be full.

It is not okay.
Your body will go into starvation mode so you will store fat from what you do eat and your metabolism will slow down.
It is much better to spread your meals out throughtout the day.

If you burn more calories than you consume in the day you will lose weight, however losing weight with only one meal a day is most likely going to be water and muscle loss..not fat. Your body will perserve the fat

Take a good long hard look at Danny Bonaduce, and ask yourself:

"Should I take HIS advice?"

Absolutely not! Anyway when you stop the diet you get back all your weight in less than a week. It's bad for your body and for you.
