Used car dealers fall in to two categories. A new car dealer who also sells their own off lease or trade inn cars , and the second one is solely used car dealer who usually gets his cars from dealers or auctions. and are solely in business of selling used cars only. These used car dealers can and usually play around with parts and anything in the car.

Anything is possible, but it would not make sense to do so! Unless you are talking about simple things to change (tires, stereos) the cost of switching parts is such that there is no real reason to do so!

I am a dealer, and I have switched parts from one car to another, but in every case, I was taking a part from a wholesale, or junk, vehicle and putting the best part on the car that I was going to sell retail! For example, I took a Dodge Caravan in trade that had almost brand new tires and nice factory wheels on it! The van had 250k miles on it and the transmission was bad! I switched the nice tires and wheels with another van that I had on the retail lot, which had much worse tires and plain wheel covers!

The 250K mile van went to the scrap man! I sold the other van for more money, because it had nice wheels!

What you are asking is if a dealer will put bad parts on a retail car, and keep the good ones! The answer to that is no, because it doe not make good business sense. You want the best product on the retail lot, and the rest is for the wholesale auction!

It depends on what kind of vehicle it is (different makes have a different depreciation rating), how many miles you put on it, what kind of condition the car is in, both mechanically and in appearance. But not all dealers are the same, You can check other cars for sale maui dealers to get some more advantages.

Well anything is possible but it's just not based on logic or practicality.

Why would a dealer waste his time and money to do that. If they have two identical cars, one is worn out mechanically and one isn't why would they swap parts. They still end up with one good car and one crap car.

Why do you don't think they would actually lower the value of a car on purpose. Any car buyer could tell the car isn't in good shape and either lower their offer or pass on the car.

Actually it would work the other way around. The car they are putting up for sale may have all the good parts, and the bad parts were put on a car that was to be wholesaled rather than retailed. A dealership wants the same thing as you, No problems.

A mechanic would notice a lot of work done on the car and no new parts. Possible? Sure.

USED car dealers don't NEED to do that. The cars they usually sell are already worn out in most cases.

yes, its very possible. There are a lot of crooked dealerships , so be careful. You need to look into Certified Used Cars from a reputable dealership ( if there even is one). good luck !
