I just bought a 32" Sharp 720 LCD HDTV and it looks perfect with still images and slow but everythime I play Madden 08 it looks great when they are moving slow or still. But when you move the players the get fuzzy and blurry ( like they look like they are " vibrating ) lol

It is really only Madden 08 I have a probley with. Warhawk is not to bad and even when you flying with turbo boost its is way better then madden. COD4 is a little bad but i can live with it. But they ARE NOT better. Like I read reviews and they say that even without HD it makes non-HD look better.

Also I didnt get the HD componet cable yet for the PS3 so maybe thats the problem... It is still running at 460 or what ever standered is.

Im just mad because Madden 08 looks better on my 10 year old TV then my new HD TV :(

I am just wondering why everyone says HD is a MUST but with gaming it is worse ? Will it look this way with Blue-Ray ? When I get the HD componet cable

A good pictures is more than just resolution (i.e. HD vs SD), they include things like contrast ratio, brightness, and response time.

I can't be certain, but it may be that your LCD TV has a slow response time. This refers to the speed with which the pixels can change colour once set. A slow response time ... e.g more than 15-20 ms ... would mean fast motion would be streaky or blurred (possibly what you are describing). See the link.

LCD TVs are the worst offenders. Not that it helps you but there are different LCD technologies that differ markedly in response time. It's a big part of why some computer monitors are more expensive than others of the same size and resolution..

Note that response time is a current area where there is an advertising war and manufacturuers sometimes quote unrealistic numbers by using misleading ways to measure response. Unfortunately there is no agreed standard.

Unfortunately you can't improve response time on a specific screen. You would have to change to one with a faster response time. You might be better to use a fast computer monitor or CRT based TV ... they have much faster response.

Short answer: Get a HDMI cable and tell the PS3 to output true 720. Get a mechanical switch if you dont have enough inputs. The combination could be cheaper than a component cable.

BlueJeans and MonoPrice are both good places to shop.

I suspect you are seeing the result of 2 things:

- Feeding the high-res display with a RF or composite (single RCA cable). This means the TV has to do a LOT of work to up-scale the video.

- LCD television 'motion blur' issues.

You definately need to get the Component cable if you're going to take advantage of the PS3 in HD. There is no way around that. Then, as someone else suggested, set your resolution to 720p as opposed to 1080i.

Progressive looks much sharper than Interlaced. Mine looked fuzzy as well in 1080i, but 720p looked outstanding.
