I've had this problem as well. They are welcome to their doctrine. But I follow the doctrine of Jesus.
I tell them I’m a Bible believing Christian, I have a document prepared regarding the trinity and ask they to take it, I believe in the trinity of God. And Jesus is God, part of the Godhead. I haven’t had one come by in a couple of years.
I'm not rude...but I stand my ground.

If you know it's them then don't answer your door. That is very dangerous especially at that time of night. They are strangers and could be claiming to be Mormon's or JW's but they may not be. They could be scoping out your home. My sister is a very good self-defense instructor and would tell you the same thing. If they don't want to leave or you've already made it clear that you aren't interested then call the local Church and tell them that the next time someone shows up at your door you are calling the police. This is not unreasonable, it is self preservation. Best to you.

Debbie is right. I live in the south and there is a church of some denomination or another about 1 mile or less in every direction. There are only 2 JW churches in the area though. I called both to make sure they took us off the lists they had. They were very nice about it and apologized for any inconveniences. My husband is Catholic and I am Pagan and we saw one about once a week because my husband never said "not interested" or to the like. Plus, he is Hispanic and that would give them a whole other area to pursue (in their way of thinking). Just call them, best way and they are usually very nice.

The thing to remember here is this is a recruiting visit. So I feel that if they are sent to you, invite them to your church. Keep inviting them to your church. Turn the recruiting around. Eventually they wont come any more. OR we will all have 1 less Jehovah witnesses knocking on doors and more souls for the Kingdom. A win win situation.

I don't know about Mormons, but you can call your local Kingdom Hall or talk to the Jehovah's Witnesses who call on you and ask to be put on a don't call list.
This is not worldwide or even statewide, but it will go on the territory map card at the Hall that serves your area on the card that has your block on it.
They may still call every few years to see if the same people still live there.

If it gets bad, tell them that you'll sue for harassment or something. I hate people who try to shove religion down other people's throats. If people want to be a part of that church, particular religion etc, then no amount of begging and coming to doorsteps at odd hours will matter. they will just do it themselves. i is okay to go door to door but it is not okay if they go to the same place continuously, it is practically harassment and that is just ridiculous.

Put up a no trespassing sign on your lawn. If they come to the door anyway call the cops. Wouldn't take more than once for them to take you off their list. Works on JWs too.:)

Answering the door with Elephant undies on always works for me.
You also might want to try asking them about uncomfortable things. If you establish your house as an unsafe place to visit, it will be blacklisted.
When they stop by, ask them who cut their hair, because it looks delicious, talk about the fit of their pants, and then open the door wide, and say PLEASE come inside, with a wide stare.
Works like a charm.

I ensure that in case you put up a demonstration affirming LDS Witnessing or Jehovah Witnessing at this handle will be considered trespassing thanks kindly that all of your Protestant pal receives a kick out of it. No, without significant cost you are able to't sue them. basically say they're trespassing
