I would ask if the atheist is sincere or just wants to start an argument. If they are sincere, then I will, PATIENTLY, answer every question they ask but I will not argue with anyone, atheist or Christian, about the Bible.

No Bible passage is useless because if (to some people) it had no spiritual value it still has much literary value. For decades, the Bible has been the "best seller" book around the world. More copies of it have been sold than any other book in history.

1. I try to understand the the question and the attitude of the person asking the question.
2. Your question is an example of a negative statement/declaration of what you think of Christians.
3. There is only self declaration of opinion so how can logic be found within it? Notice that I did not use a Bible passage?
4. I do not resort to name calling.
5. I answered the question.

Um, I do none of the above. Why? Well, first of all, I haven't really found any challenging questions so far. Most of them just need a few minutes of thought, and maybe a little bit of research.

If I can't answer them, I put them on my watchlist, and try to find someone who CAN answer them.

I'm naturally very curious, and very skeptical. If someone brings up something I hadn't previously thought about, it starts eating away at me until I can answer it satisfactorily enough, at least to myself.

I mean...um...well, I'm so deluded and brainwashed that "faith" is my answer to everything. Because, you know, if a person is a Christian, it automatically means they never question anything, and must have been a Christian their entire life, right?

You shouldn't assume.

As a Christian you have to keep an open mind. If someone asks me a question I am unsure of, I find out. May take me a while to find out, but I will. Being a Christian doesn’t mean you have to be a closed minded idiot who feels threatened by something you don’t know. Everyone has a right to their beliefs, Christian or not, and you should know why you believe that way. If you cant back it up then you need to hit your bible.

I'm usually the one asking them the challenging questions. Which they cannot answer because they have no answers. The proof of God is everywhere. We are proof of him. Intelligence must be created by Intelligence. Would you beleive that the Sistene Chapel just evolved into what it is over millions and millions of years? Of course you wouldn't. Therefore how can one honestly believe that all we see today just happened? Only a fool would deny the existence of a creator.

God bless

Jesus didn't bible beat up anyone ; there is little than can challenge my faith especially from someone who doesn't have God in their heart; when you follow the path , you are rewarded and things happen in your life beyond your expectations, each and every time ; ego is what beneath their trying to call out Christians ; Satan is trying hard to sway people from the greatest gifts ; some people are just easily used by Satan to fill up their ego thinking they have the world and God figured out; at least I know who is in my life, they don't have a clue who is in theirs; the elephant in the room that they choose to ignore. ego, self, self gratification; one is a lonely number over the course of a lifetime; the universe exists in harmony and doesn't need our ego to exist, we are provided for , protected by; I wonder if on the death bed those beliefs will hold steadfast and true?

I clarify what misunderstandings they have, and give an answer.
Much of the time, people (even Christians) have a misunderstanding somewhere which leads them to not understand something else.
Each of us are on the same road to understand, it's just that occasionally, we get stuck and end up having to backtrack a bit.
No big deal.

From my experience here, just an observation, many simply ignore the question. It doesn't have to come from an atheist. A fundamentalist faced with intelligent questions about Catholicism will usually ignore the question.

I try and answer the question with God's word. Sometimes I don't know much on the subject they might be asking about so I do not answer. I don't know all there is to know about the word of God. I would never call them idiots.
