Both--I have short term memory and mild long term memory
1) Forget where I'm going.
2) Can't remember where the doctor's office located.
3) Forget doctors appointments without a reminder from
family
4) Forget where I put something even if 5 seconds have past.
I have difficulty remembering events of the past when someone brings it up. But short term is frustrating because I'm chasing around to find things. I'm trying to be positive, and this is one reason besides helping others, is to keep my mind active through all you people at Yahoo. Yahoo!

It would be awful to lose either one completely, but I would choose to lose some of the long-term memory. I am now caring for my mother who has Alzheimer's disease. She repeats and repeats and repeats the same stories of decades past, but can't remember what is going on from moment to moment. I think I could bear it if I got fuzzy on the past, but were still able to lead a normal day-to-day life. I would still fit in with the people around me, be able to keep up my interests, and interact with friends.
