Your last Roman inference is totally off the mark as far as I am concerned.
I must say however that there seem to be many occasions when a Christian answer gets thumbs down clearly by non-believers.
Why these would give thumbs down to a religious question consistently is a bit irritating. Why are they even here in the religious section unless they are here for serious interchanges?
If they only come to make havoc and be pests they show themselves to be as infantile as their notion is that complex systems such as are impossible for intelligent humans to replicate may arise without intelligent intervention.
But of course, perhaps the fact that they practice their Evolutionist religion demands such putting down of others -- how else can their lack of intelligence be excused in their own minds?

I'd say no.
The Roman Colosseum is so far in distant history for most Christians that they probably don't make the connection.
I love watching the lions at the zoo.

It was only the Gladiators that had any hope for thumbs up..the Christians were there for death..no reprieve..and not always by lions..burning, and other means of entertaining the Romans were common.

I don't care who you are, but that's FUNNY. You made me LOL.
And no, I don't find the thumbs-down offensive, unless I get one on an answer that contains only facts.
I think lions are cute. Just big kitty cats. And I love kitty cats.

A thumb's down shouldn't be offensive to anyone, it is simply the sign of a differing opinion. Don't really fear lions because they are not a threat in my neck of the woods, but I probably would fear them if I lived in the plains of Africa!

You cannot offend a true Christian. Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me. I don't listen to man; I listen to the Lord.

I wouldn't think so. They're already so busy being a persecuted majority and fighting off attacks on their "Christian" holidays. I don't think they have the time.
