some worship god/gods, some worship their chidren, money, power, greed, food, sex, freedom, etc.
we borg make these latest observation. is there any truth to these??

Yes. I advised you to worship God. Not anything else. Why we must worship our children, who are human, and can die easily like us? Or money and food, which are non-living things? Or power and sex, which can resulted us to go insane? Freedom?
God is the only one who can give all of those blessings to you. And by having God, you will feel more safe and protected because he is watching and hear you wherever you are.
Have you ever wonder what is the purpose of this life? And have you ever wonder where we, human beings, came from? Apes? Like what some scientist belief in that theory? And who do you pointed to when you say "Oh My God" if you don't have any God?
Oh, please my friends, every living creatures on this earth have purpose of live.
If we just live on this earth by eating and working to keep us alive... than what? That's the exactly what other animals do. They eat, reproduce than at the end.... Dead....
In my religion, there is life after this life... And on that day, God will ask what have you done in this life. And how you are gonna answer?
God had created all of us no other than to worship him. And that is what is the purpose of our life.

You don't have to worship anything, if you do not want to.
It's called free will. Worship just make the reality of life and death seem to have a purpose and meaning.
Death is the great equalizer. It doesn't matter what your social status, who you are, or what you worship or believe, because we all are equal when we die.
That goes for Borgs as well as humans.

Me worship my own arch supports. Make me tallest amongst fellow office workers and even Borg-Breath.
Water cooler looking most fascinating though, gurgling and bubbling, giving life fluid and attracting us for chat time away from paper drudgery at desk. Me thinks we should make burnt offering at alter of water cooler and see if we get magic bonus at end of year.
Not all humans need worship though. Beware the Athiest Mafia, Senior Borgamungus.

I'm not sure you can say everyone worships something... I never get down on my knees and ask my food how best to please it...
You could be asking whether everyone has to believe in something
In which case yes
But non necessarily God
